Hi,

Planned to go Arima Onsen but the room rate is quite expensive (Tocen Goshobo) and I can't find room for triple as I understand Japan are very strict on the number of ppls to be in a room as per reserved.

1. Is it recommended to stay a night there or just daytrip is sufficient (from Osaka)? Night atmosphere
2. All that i able to find on net (Tocen, Kin no Yu, Arima, Kamioobou) needed to be naked sweat.gif Is there any onsen that allow swimsuit? Or anyone been to onsen which allow swimsuit?
3. Any recommendation for stay in Kobe with budget 10k yen/night?

many thanks

no ler...no attire for women ohh...i just stood there, strip naked and nobody was looking at me. Very biasa oledi one la they all

If i'm alone I might be able to do it in front of stranger... but doing it in front of someone we know of, not brave blush.gif
If private onsen, will swimsuit be allowed? Not enough courage to strip naked in front of friends yet icon_question.gif

Any tips for decent stay with private onsen except Tocen? Not so keen on AirBnb after reading some review about it last week

@RegentCid, can you help to verify is this route correct from Osaka to Arima Onsen ? Is the Arima Onsen walking distance from the Arima Onsen station?

1. From Osaka JR Station take JR Line to Sannomiya JR Station
2. Then take Kobe-shieichikatetsu Line to Tanigami Station
3. Then take Kobe Dentetsu Line to Arimaguchi Station
4. Then take Shintetsu arima line to Arima Onsen
Total time 60mins

Found another route because not sure if the above route correct. Which route is easier for 1st timer?

Thanks thanks

No no no.
Too slow too slow.....
First you need to take Hankyu Railway to Rokko Station. Then taking Rokko cable car to Mountain Rokko. At Mountain Rokko then switch to Rokko Arima Ropeway to Arima Onsen.

@RegentCid, this one correct ? from Osaka to Rokko station (560 yen / 46 mins)

Then from Rokko Station take Kobe City Bus #16 to base station Rokko Cable (210 yen/10mins)
Take Cable Car to Mountain Rokko (590 yen /10mins) and
Take circular bus line to top station (260 yen/10mins) and from Rokko Arima Ropeway (1010 yen /12mins, 1820 yen round trip) down to Arima Onsen

Total time : 78mins / ~2630 yen

===================================================

This route 60 mins only and cheap ¥1,290. Why cannot ?
1. From Osaka JR Station take JR Line to Sannomiya JR Station
2. Then take Kobe-shieichikatetsu Line to Tanigami Station
3. Then take Kobe Dentetsu Line to Arimaguchi Station
4. Then take Shintetsu arima line to Arima Onsen

From Osaka Station just need to walk to Hankyu Umeda Station then all the way to Rokko Station.
Rokko Station to Rokko Cable Car by shuttle bus.
Take your time few hour enjoy the beauty of Mountain Rokko by walking.
Then ropeway to arima onsen.
Reach Arima also slow walk to the hotel. Enjoy the view.

Buy Kansai Thru Pass. It cover all.

This route taking longer but the view extremly beauty.

From Arima Onsen to Osaka can used normal route which is yours one. Make compare........beauty vs boring.

@RegentCid amazing!!! Thank you thumbup.gif
Definitely BEAUTY and the Kansai Thru Pass u recommended nail it down!!!! Plus offers on onsen entries and others tourist spots!!! Here's the finding on the PASS, not sure if PASS allows for return tickets for Cable Car and Ropeway as didn't find the restriction on the PDF Guide.

With Kansai Thru Pass:
from Osaka to Rokko station (560 yen / 46 mins) - Covered
Then from Rokko Station take Kobe City Bus #16 to base station Rokko Cable (210 yen/10mins) - Covered
Take Cable Car to Mountain Rokko (590 yen-20% /10mins) and
Take circular bus line to top station (260 yen/10mins) - Not sure if walking will be better option with scenery
and from Rokko Arima Ropeway (1010 yen-20% /12mins, 1820 yen round trip) down to Arima Onsen
Total time : 78mins / ~1540 yen (Saving ~1000 yen vs Kansai Thru 2 days PASS 4000 yen)

for those on a budget, can get the IIJMIO travel sim card (can buy at airport, BIC Camera, Blue Sky etc). It only cost me around Y3200 for 1 month 2GB data. line is quite good as it runs on NTT network. You can turn on data sharing from phone if need be.

i actually ran out of data cos the speed was so fast and my wife kept using the data sharing on FB... damm FB for implementing the auto play video while i was in Japan.. wife didn't know how to turn it off... sucked up my data so fast.
*
IIJMIO was my 1st choice but have to get it from BIC and certain store.
When you bought it at Y3200 ? i read 1st page it stated around Y4100, and it's depends on shop to sell at difference price.
my concern is i will be arriving late in airport and shops are closed. and on next day i will be taking 6am train and shops yet to open hmm.gif
Reaching Kyoto morning 8am and have plan to start touring but BIC opens on 10am only.

buy at airport for the 2gb package.

good thing my data ran out on the last day i was there. All i needed was to preload my trip details from city to the airport and just make sure not to refresh anything.

For this data pack, once the data is used up, you need to top up at 1500 yen for 500mb or  3000 yen for 2gb.
*
Can't get from airport coz i will be arrived late where the shop has closed. And leaving early morning to town before the shop open blush.gif

Some pharmacy allows instant tax rebate on their counter if your purchases exceeded Y5000.. that's when i was in Osaka..
