Unknown to many, Bank rakyat board rates can be negotiated.

1 year can be had for 4.285% just by asking OTC and there is no minimum amount to get that %.  You just have to wait 3 working days, usually lah, for HQ approval.

BR Jalan Pinang Branch gave me 4.285% for 1 year.

I am too lazy to watch newspapers and see all this 6%, 4.8% and what not promo rates and effective rate is so so only!

and time spend to run to this and to that bank, petrol and time wasted...

BR give less admin headache.

HSBC Premier won't get you a good, competitive interest rate. HSBC Premier is only worth it if you need access the the global banking HSBC offers.

Dude, BR gave off the "PB membership" without people applying. Also I did not put eggs in just to get the PB, some may do that. For me mainly for high FD rate, PB secondary. I shun off some of the PB membership although I qualified for it as do not find too much use for it. May just get more calls from RM on UT products. tongue.gif

Because of previous scandal even that global banking is difficult. HSBC Premier account but still not able to use the services in UK as HSBC UK keep denying, supposedly because Malaysia known to have lots of rich people laundering money.

FYI...

MBSB-Muamalat merger, full-fledged Islamic bank on the cards?

"Sources said if the plan for the merger takes off, EPF’s stake in the merged entity would be down to 40%, while Khazanah and DRB-Hicom’s interest was likely to be trimmed to 20% respectively."
