I use garden hose for my IDU and ODU units and is 40m long (special order) so I cant comment  I think is also depends how much dirt is trapped.

Give it a try. You may need to refill few times.

One of these LINK (25m hose) will work.. if you live in mansion then can use connector to extend a few rolls of hose together.. generally this Hokah neon green is reinforced so it won't give silly problems like kinking halfway.

Generally one long hose either 10m or 25m should work for most places.. and its cheaper than calling a AC cleaning service coz you just need to wash out the dust at ODU fins only. Standard water pressure will do. Too high pressure eg from karcher machine will bend the delicate fins.

I see, thanks for the tip

Oh btw, usually every year( plus minus) my AC would leak water and the drain pipe would be clogged with jelly like substance, is there a way to clear the jelly away?

i would take out the aircond casing, release the bottom hook, pull out the drain hose and use water hose to flush the drain hose.
but this method is for semi-advanced ppl.

less advance method is use the aircon cleaner spray. let it soak and then let the aircond run for like 30 minutes and hope that the cleaning solution dissolve the clog.

There are various ways to clean depending on one preference.

What I normally does is to remove the casing and use a firm art brush to 'scrub' the drain pan and the mouth area. Then pour hot water to remove the gel. Once is clean, use normal water to test the flow. It should be ok.

I see, for me I was able to pull off the AC casing, the drain pan is a bit hard to put back together due to difficulty in aligning the drain pan

I see, for this case no chemical is required too?

Also btw, do I pour the hot water on the coil or at a corner of the drain pan(kinda tight to access on the right side)?

Btw is there a way to avoid this buildup? Having this issue since I got this AC(every year)

I dont use chemical to clean ac. Good water pressure will do.

You need to use small brush to access tight corners

Cant avoid the gel. Is normal 'waste' product of using ac like the clogged filters.

hi all,
anyone got experience/review using sharp inverter j tech air con?
*
I have 2 inverter sharp Jtech aircond and 2 other japanese brands.

Cooling wise about the same.

Sharp tend to get dirty very fast compared to others. According to technician it is due to the fins design and do not switch on plasmacluster feature. Not sure how true is this. I need to service my sharp ac twice a year compared to other rooms aircond.

My final advise: dont go for Sharp rclxm9.gif

Sometimes if the coil fin out front a bit dirty, the below coil fin will catch the dirty when cleaning/spray water only. Observe when cleaning my indoor unit. So every six month/1 year i wash the drain pan and blower. During this i have access to take look below coil fin. i also spray dish wash liquid at coil din and clean with water (same use garden hose).

Hi.

Need a recommendation for a new aircon. Replacing a spoilt unit.

Room size: 120 sqft
Usage: Average 2-3 weeks per month. 8 hours a day

By the way, do I need to change the piping if it’s an inverter. Previous unit wasn’t.

Thanks in advance.

No need to change pipe if the old pipe thickness good enough.

However inverter usually use 4 wire between IDU n ODU. Pls connect 4 wires (LNE+control). Curi E to become control not so safe.

Generally can look at either Gree Queen Inverter / Sharp AHX9VED2 / Daikin FTKU / Pana X Deluxe for 1hp. 120sf roughly 10x12ft / 3x4m 1hp sufficient.

Hi there. Looking for buying air conditioner for my bedroom and living room.

My neighbor suggesting 1.5hp for bedroom (but he said 1.0hp also sufficient) and 2.5hp for living room.

After made some surveying, for bedroom maybe I want to go for new air-conditioner Sharp AHX9VED. Possible to buy with Shopee Save 2.0 coupon?

And for living room I'm surveying used air-conditioner. Any advice for looking used air-conditioner or save up buying new one? Maybe I'll go for 2hp for living room if budget constraint.

The size of the room (i.e. your floor plan or room size) is important as well to estimate sizing. Some of y'all may be living in Damansara heights where the living room is my whole mini apartment tongue.gif
Some combos of AC placement and room shape may require bigger hp aircon.

Used split AC not economical unless really cannot afford a new AC because any repair will be out-of-pocket (point #1) and when you pay for this repair it will most likely cost more than even buying the cheapest GREE or Midea 1hp AC (brand new NON inverter unit with warranty)..so its a bit of false economy (point #2).. and depending on previous owner maintenance may have smoke smell or other funny smells. Lapsapda and Chopee have installment plans for things >500 or >1k pricetag so can split to 12 months EPP biggrin.gif

AHX9VED on shopee ~1200 or so if self collect (find own installer after MCO) https://shopee.com.my/Sharp-1HP-1.5HP-2HP-J...6163.1394376296

As for 2hp/2.5hp technically also depends on sizing of the room and how hot it is normally.
We had a good run with a window casette (old type) 1.5hp (suspect to be quite high btu) that was immensely cold for the living room laugh.gif

If you know the seller personally (otherwise dont), you can get a good used AC. Since MCO last year, many offices and shops closed down and start selling whatever to reduce losses.

Some are quite new if you know which model. If is Pana, for exampIe, I dont mind buying since am using the brand for a long time and know the reliability is not an issue.

I like to advise again that it is not recommended to install a high hp in a large place. Two smaller hp will be better option if space for compressor is not an issue. It gives faster and evenly cooling and once is achieved, turn off 1 unit.

That is the reason why your neighbour suggested a 2.5hp. He could have felt the cooling is slow for the large space.

I belive it's easy to remove the drain pan but when putting the drain pan back together it's kinda tricky to put it back together with the clips from both side of the ac and the drain hose together(copper pipe side, motherboard side)

Some brands are easy but still need few washing to get it right.

Dont do it if you are not sure. Garden hose will do 90% of removing the dirt.

If I had friend who can install air-conditioner, is it considered legal during mco?

Since sharp I want to self collect is already oos, I'm considering between Midea 10CRFN8 (5 star rating, 9300 btu(4305-10986)) vs Haier HSU-10VTH21 (4 star rating, 9500 btu). Which one would be better?
