guys, mind sharing how do u find jobs in singapore? do you link up through net or u have referrals?

I used to search jobs in Jobstreet.com and there are many jobs over there. For instance, accounts & finance postions there are bout 1k+ positions.

i juz applied bout 10 jobs but juz managed to be shortlisted for 3 interviews so far but not satisfied with the salary offered then i rejected it... sien. Maybe Malaysians are always in a disadvantaged position compare to Singaporeans in the job market.

Have to say it depends on your qualifications and education/work experience. Not all employers there are bad, just so happens that might be your market rate over there. Why not improve further b4 trying again?

if you have the right experience they need, they will pay higher, even higher than singaporean. Don't always think that Malaysian are being exploit here. Just that you have to know, Singapore's salary is lower compare to Malaysia.

Are you sure about that? In my experience, in real terms (exch/rate adjusted), it's at least 2.3X. In nominal terms (RM to S$), it's about even.

I guess this is very true... some friend and my own experience:
Here: RM2800, there RM2400
Here: RM3000, there RM2800

But, your savings is 2x if you bring your excess cash back to Malaysia. Seeing the current weakening RM I guess soon the conversion rate will be 2.4 (heck, now is already 2.38!).

How about the security there? I bet it is so much safer than Malaysia! Like in malaysia, girls get wistled at.... then you have perverts lah... and people lepaking at central markets, sogo and etc (mostly not Msian)... I heard the Singaporeans dont act like Msians do... they dont look at girls one kind (in a pervert way)... Haha!

Perverts? there will always be regardless of where, its how? not so much of whistling, but people do look, just look. However, sometimes you may get the rude shock of foriegn workers staring so very hard as if never seen before. This is something, I think not new anymore now... I had seen this before...that's why especially in the early years when problems starting getting bigger and bigger with these workers, locals complained to the police asking for more petrol, etc........ scare... But sometimes, they really mean no harm, its just that its culture shock to them and us, Besides, many just past time hanging aournd talking and chatting looking, ...also not new with Locals after so many years.. so people tends to be scare.

But I think scarey thing would be these foriegn workers turning on each other fighting and murdering over petty issues that very much startled the local community.. part of the initial shock.. of having too many of them around so much so that police started forming groups to monitor this kind of cases... and even introducing something like work groups with these foriegn workers to take care and introdued them to the SG experience.. sort of help them settle down, understand SG system

Isit?? Singapore salary is lower than Malaysia??
u mean if i earn RM5000, similarly if im a singaporean with same experience (and luck) i will get say SGD4,500?? hmm...this is something new..

anyway 3 interviews out of 10 applications is considered very very good... thats 30% reply rate.

hahaha.... maybe singaporean are the spying type. meaning they "perverts" ur body parts without u noticing. WHile malaysians are bad in hiding their act. afterall their country are much developed rite? so mayb they are smarter in perverting.

Its depends field and position and knowledge you have. Some is always lower and some is higher. so you can't say average singapore salary is lower than malaysia.

Security is much much safer than in Malaysia. If you walk alone on the street at 12am, you need not worry about it.

That being said, i guess depends on which location.
i heard like Jurong, industrial area, also a lot of "cases"
I guess, generally safer than Malaysia lar, but definitely noy 100% or even 95% safe.

No place in the world is 100% safe. Just be smart and act accordingly if you see something odd! biggrin.gif
