QUOTE(siren @ May 21 2008, 12:41 AM) I used to search jobs in Jobstreet.com and there are many jobs over there. For instance, accounts & finance postions there are bout 1k+ positions. i juz applied bout 10 jobs but juz managed to be shortlisted for 3 interviews so far but not satisfied with the salary offered then i rejected it... sien. Maybe Malaysians are always in a disadvantaged position compare to Singaporeans in the job market. if you have the right experience they need, they will pay higher, even higher than singaporean. Don't always think that Malaysian are being exploit here. Just that you have to know, Singapore's salary is lower compare to Malaysia.

i think it is not a suitable time to come to Singapore now. Many compnay is laying off. It started from Motorola, then AMD, then IM flash on hold. These news aren't publicised because it hurts Singapore's image. If u work in singapore, performance is the most important things. they will measure you by what you had done, what your colleague can do vs you. So you must be competent enough in order to survive.

Sigh... how come EP application takes so long? mine was fast, around 7 days. i heard even faster case, 2 days only. i have a sense that it depend on which company u join. QUOTE(seantang @ Jun 26 2008, 01:27 PM) The cheapest 24/7 broadband is around $20/mth for lowest bandwidth bb on mobile from any of the telcos. For mobile phone, cheapest postpaid is around $22/mth if you don't want roaming, caller id etc (add $5/mth for each). That includes some free airtime and free SMS. So, if you don't call or message alot, that's about all you need to pay. That leaves $58 for transport. If you go to work/school 20 days a month (assume you sit at home during weekends), that's $2.90 a day or $1.45 per trip (assuming 2 trips a day ie. to & fro). $1.45's enough for one reasonably long train trip (eg. Orchard to Yishun etc or around 30minutes), or one long bus trip from one end of the route to the other, or 1 short bus trip + a short train ride. It really depends on where you're staying. If you're staying close to where you need to go, you obviously pay less for transport (or nothing at all if you can walk it). But assuming that place where you need to go is also where everybody else needs to go, the accomodation near that place will be more expensive also. i spend SGD0.98 X2 per day to take MRT to work. staying 3 stops away from office.

QUOTE(Raymond_ACCA @ Aug 8 2008, 01:13 PM) Hi, this topic already 122 pages long, no time to read all. I got a few questions.. 1.Anyone after studying ACCA in malaysia, then apply to big4 in singapore before? hows the starting pay like right now? 2.If just apply using OBU degree, while taking last 2 acca papers part time, what are the chances of big4 in singapore accepting ? 3.What are the current rental charges for a single room apartment in singapore per month? 4.Among the big 4s ( P,E,K,D) which has the most exposure to listed companies in sg? Lastly, if any of u here who worked in big4 in sg, please share some experience of your working life there:) Might consider applying for a job there in the beginning of next year, if everything goes well. Thanks in advanced for replies:) will really appreciate. there is a huge difference between private apartment and HDB flats. most of ppl now go for hdb flat cause it is cheaper. hdbflat = SGD400-500 per month per room private apartment/condo = SGD800 to SGD1200 per room per month pls check : http://www.flatsdb.com or http://www.hdbflat.blogspot.com for more information.
