Sifu-Sifu sekalian, notworthy.gif

A question that has been bothering me.

1. Company mau go IPO. In main market. They offer an amount of shares at a fixed price.

2. Investors buy those up, thus investing in the company directly, and therefore it directly benefits the company. Raise capital.

3. The shares then go into our secondary market, a.k.a the stock exchange. Whereby any further trade or money has no impact on the company. The transfer of "investment" is simply transfer of money from one investor to another investor.

4. hmm.gif Why does a company even care about the secondary market and share price? hmm.gif They dun raise any capital from that, let it drop also no harm hmm.gif adi have the money. hmm.gif

5. Assuming companies do offer Secondary Public Offereing(SPO), then I see some use the share price is to the company, other than that... hmm.gif

6. But I don't seem to see any SPO also hmm.gif

Sifu-Sifu sekalian do you have answer to my predicament above ar? rclxub.gif Search google whole night liau

Non-sifu answer

1. Even when company goes IPO, a large chunk of the company is still held by the major shareholders. These people want to be more rich. Some even take margin loans to increase their stakes pre-IPO. A smaller chunk get offered to insti investors and even smaller chunk get offered to retail investors.

2. Companies do raise capital in the secondary market. Look at rights issues and placements.

Thanks Sifu for the nice explanations..

A company is just like a car ..non human.....behind it..still needs human/people to operate it ...the workforce.. management..Directors ..and shareholders who influence the decision makings ...

The majority shareholders still have controls over the company per se...they do not sell every single share upon listing...

I wonder during translation any thing was lost , as with many great scripts the translator occasionally inputs some of their own thoughts and opinion into their works. I once had a copy of this translated Sun Tzu book published in the 90s it was the best i seen so far . Trying now to recall the author, i think he was Indonesian lecturing in Singapore.

My half-cut Axia from AAX trying to make a fight now up to 0.40sen,

anyone in msport? this is purely goreng and downside is actually quite high, however the upside potential is also extremely high. I know it is dangerous to play with china stock, lots of people already got burn with XDL and CSL, but i just can't ignore the upside potential

FBM KLCI is expected to stabilise and track sideways next week on the back of steadying global markets as well as several local developments, including the upcoming mega Malakoff Corporation Bhd initial public offering (IPO) and the tabling of the 11th Malaysia Economic Plan in Parliament later this month.

Any weakness however should be cushioned by positive momentum from ringgit (w-o-w up 4.2% to 3.5650), brent oil price (w-o-w up 3.8% to USD69.20), the tabling of 11th Malaysian Economic Plan and the upcoming Malakoff mega IPO.

The key index however had softly rebounded from its 200-day moving average level.

“Although buying momentum remains weak, oscillators such as Stochastic and RSI have flashed a crossover buy signal from oversold territories.

“Overall, the FBM KLCI has corrected a healthy 62 points or 3.3% on a declining daily volume after it hit seven month high on April 27 (1867.53),”

Bursa expect to remain moderately cautious and continue to trade sideways with upside bias between 1820-1840 this coming week.

I am searching for a platform that can send me notification on my favorite list of counters whenever they either hit my preset TP or Bottom. Better still if it comes as free subscription. Anyone knows any????

However i am looking for one that will send me notification by email or other messaging system when ever one of my selected preset counters hit my target price real time. Anyway the klse screener is a good tool thanks again.

I like and agree with what Mr. Koon said :-

my investment talk - Koon Yew Yin

After having read the investment philosophies of Gurus like Warren Buffet, Benjamin Graham, Charles Munger, Peter Lynch and a few others, I would like to recommend you to read one book which covers all the famous Gurus called “Valuegrowth Investing’ by Professor Glen Arnold.

Most of the investment philosophies of these famous Gurus are not applicable in Malaysia because we do not have companies like Berkshire Hathaway, Coco Cola or McDonald which have long term competitive business advantage for long term investment, which we can buy to keep for our children and grand children. We have to select Malaysian listed companies stocks based on shorter term prospective.

KLCI declined 6.88 points or 0.4% to 1,798.61 points after trading in red territory throughout the day as Greece's debt sentiment and the global bond sell-off persisted.

Across Bursa Malaysia, 1.63 billion shares worth RM1.7 billion were traded. Market gainers trailed decliners by 240 versus 576 while 319 counters were unchanged.

A bank-backed research house analyst told that the KLCI was under selling pressure after the index opened below 1,800 points today.

“It led investors to sell,” he said over telephone. The analyst said he foresaw the index consolidating further.

From a technical viewpoint, Kenanga Investment Bank wrote in a note earlier today the oversold situation in Malaysian shares appeared to be deepening as indicators headed further south.

“This further supports our view that the key index could potentially find its footing around the 1,800/1,780-support zone where we expect buying support to emerge,” Kenanga said.

1. Need to have better understanding of my options on this AAX Rights issue (RI) and follow it closely. Hope i can find some answers here following EX on 12th May.

2. ON the 15th May 5pm Entitlement date. In between the ex date and entitlement date can i dispose my Mother share and still be entitle to my RI?

3. From 18th May , unsubscribed RI can be sold in open market , will the purchase attract Bursa charges IE brokerage etc? Is the Price determined by market force or preset by AAX?

4. After buying RI , i only got the rights , i still need to pay for Issue at 0.22ct each on 1st June?

2. After X, you can dispose your shares and still entitle for RI

3. RI is traded like a normal shares, price is determine by market, but mostly will be dictated by the mother share price itself

4. After you buy the RI, you can either exercise the right and pay up or you can choose not to subscribe to the right issue and let the RI go down in the drain ( but lose the amount used to but the RI)

sometimes people choose not to take up the RI as they don't want to put more money in that particular stock, so they sell before "X" and buy it again after "X"

But if one never really wanted to subscirbe the right issue and still want to be invested in that counter, better sell it first, and buy after "X"

Cheers for the detail answers. Interesting on your comment of picking up the Open market RI and not subscribe. RI must be really worth peanuts if i wanted to sell my RI then.

Once u sold the RI..u may not get the free warrants...often a tool for sharks to goreng up..........but u need to subscribe the rights...the purpose is motivate u to subscribe for the rights...

There are many complicating situations or variable factors..come with right issues.......Market factor is another...

Dilutions of right is another........

And the next Q report ...is it good ?

Really making u to think and rethink ..........lot of time is consumed...due to uncertainties....ahead..yet u might not get a ideal situation...

FBM KLCI closed 1,807.55 points, up 4.53 points or 0.25%. Across the board, a total of 1.57 billion shares worth RM1.79 billion traded. Market gainers beat losers by 411 versus 355, while 359 counters were unchanged.

“There is not much excitement in the stock market today although the index managed to stay above 1,800 points. The trading volume was not high as it was less than two billion (shares),” a fund manager said.

He said the listing of power producer Malakoff Bhd tomorrow might help to bring excitement to the local bourse.

Hong Leong Investment Bank Research in a report today commented that the KLCI is “not out of the woods” yet, given a host of domestic and external challenges.

It said the overall sentiment remained cautious amid lingering domestic concerns such as on-going uninspiring first quarter reporting season, potential Fitch rating downgrade during its next review in May/June and latest fiasco surrounding 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB).

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia’s economy expanded by 5.6% in the first quarter ended March 31, 2015, underpinned by strong private consumption and private investment.

Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) announced on Friday that the GDP growth, on a quarter-on-quarter seasonally adjusted, grew at 1.2 per cent.

“GDP in current prices amounted to RM277.2bil in this quarter. In constant 2010 prices, GDP registered a value of RM254.4bil,” it said.

The firm GDP growth – which was above economists’ expectations of a 5.5% growth -- was driven by an 8.8% growth in private consumption and the 11.7% increase in private investment.

The GDP growth in Q1 2015 at 5.6% was slower when compared with a year ago when the economy expanded at 6.3%.

“Initial support is resting at the 1,793 points level, which is the 38.2% Fibonacci retracement of the previous leg of the upward trend.

“Stronger floor is peg at the 50% Fibonacci retracement, resting at the 1,879.68, To the upside, the local bourse is expected to face significant resistance at the 1,822, followed closely by the 1,832 barrier,” he said.

The FBM KLCI is expected to rebound further next week and stay above the crucial 1,800-point support level, with investor focus on the Eleventh Malaysia Economic Plan (11MP) to be tabled on May 21.

following the oversold performance of the local stocks (over the last three weeks) and successful test of 1,800 support level, FBM KLCI expects to stage further rebound driven by positive GDP data, rising local currencies and commodities price.

on the technical front, the FBM KLCI had been deeply oversold after correcting 3.2% since April 27 high (1,867) over past three weeks and now looks poised for further rebound.

key psychological levels were successfully recaptured, with the FBM KLCI and S&P 500 climbing back above the 1,800 and 2,100 psychological level.

the benchmark index appeared to have a selling climax with bullish reversal morning star candlestick now spotted on daily chart.

expect a higher technical rebound towards next major resistance at 1830 and 1840 levels next week.

Most if not all of your picks were/are choice counters tqvm
Maybe leave 5-10% of holdings for higher TP adopting trailing stops (which can be raised as price elevates)!?
Although I have yet to master this discipline hahaha

Ya it could be done...only need some fine tuning.....along the ways ..

Perhaps others can do some inputs coz I am tired of talking standalone...from A to Z...

In  tandem  with  higher  revenue  of  RM17.5  million  for the  current  quarter  as  compared  to RM16.5  million  for  the  preceding  year  corresponding quarter,  the  Group  recorded  higher profit  before  taxation  of  RM2.5  million  as  compared to  profit  before  taxation  of  RM1.2 million. This was mainly due to higher sales volume and selling prices for  the Group’s brick products.

will the deferred in high taxation will affect earnings in the coming next few quarter?

Taxation kinda hard to explain without the actual details.......deferred taxation adjustments could be taxation adjustments over previous years items aka over provided due to some un claimable tax losses , large re investment allowances not fully absorbed etc..

When u upgrade PM and so on...like in 6211 case..more initial capital or reinvestment allowances would be given......so current taxation might stay low....offsetting with some Deferred ( future ) tax ......provision ..for better comparison and the accounts requirements

Quite a complicating issue ......but overall it shows a positive effect in 6211 accounts......

At 39pc discount, small stocks top choices for Malaysian top fund - See more at: http://www.themalaymailonline.com/money/ar...h.Mr2ixtG4.dpuf

Smaller companies are involved in more diverse industries with better prospects than larger peers, which are dominated by banks and commodity producers, Lee said. Profits at companies in the small-cap measure will increase 21 per cent in the next 12 months, compared with a 3.5 per cent gain for the KLCI, analyst estimates compiled by Bloomberg show.

“Small caps will continue to outperform the narrower KLCI index and lead the recovery,” said Lee, who helps oversee RM5.6 billion. “Even after the outperformance, we continue to see value within this space.”

Axiata profit for 1QFY15 fallen 13.3% to RM584.84m, hampered by losses in its operation in Indonesia, Forex losses & increasing depreciation costs.
Therefore, most likely no divvy this year or very less.

it depends on what type of research. If it is fundamental type. ie. estimating EPS, revenue etc, then I barely look at it. If it is a technical chart, then I will only look at it if it is the Elliott Wave type.

*
thanks. i would like to see this coming quarter report. could be a good company to invest if report shows no slowing down on business

These variables are rough estimates of a stock's value. The real action is in the charts which mirrors the greed n fear of speculators. Traders say "trade what you see". In the futures market, there are no EPS etc to calculate just the charts n yet savy traders can make money. The best is u combine both.

Hi everyone. I am an undergraduate student from Universiti Malaysia Sarawak. I am currently writing my undergraduate thesis which titled "Is colour affecting stock investment decision?". Can you please spend few minutes to provide your feedbacks in my survey? Many thanks.

URL: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/18IJn8jpi8Z...jML6n4/viewform

I believe there are various factors which lead to the final decisions such as market conditions, news and so on. And since less researches have been conducted in this area, I would like to test the indicator - colour. Your feedbacks are highly valuable to my research. Thanks for spending your time. smile.gif

Our borrowings has already hit the limit. There is no more room to maneuver. Even if it is a grand plan, how to make it work without $$$ ? It is rightly a non-event.

The worst thing is not colour it is the percentage. If you see it drop 0.01 it's not so bad as you see it drop 1%. Marketers already know that that's why they say 50% discount and not rm5 discount.. because 50% seems like such a big number.

Tenaga is one of cheaper bluechip out there. Mostly now PE are more than 15x and a number more than 20x as well.

Monopoly business is not the sole consideration.

You have other factor like gov policy on utilities industry, IPPs, subsidies, tariff rate etc that could influence the company profitability.

Although with monopoly business, tariff rate is not controlled by the company.

So you have fuel cost variable with fixed tariff situation. If fuel cost goes down, positive to company, if high fuel cost then negative.

Not to forget that company does have significant debt in foreign currency denominated, exchange rate may affect the P&L of company as well.

Probably :

CR income - sales
DR current asset - accrued billings

if they follow standards : means architect sch H (if no wrong =p) % completion sign already .. but not do invoice billing yet (paper work)
so accrued 1st since wants to hit target for this quarter .. if they hit target won't accrued and use as buffer for next quarter rclxms.gif

my opinion only don't quote me whistling.gif

my layman understanding is that the building is already built until certain percent. For example 60%, previously, they developer already bill the customer until 40%, so 20% will be classified as accrued billing. icon_rolleyes.gif

hi all, saw news that ECM Libra is giving special dividend RM1.20/share. Does that mean if i purchase current share at RM1.36/share, i will get another RM1.20/share as bonus?

[ECM Libra: Declares RM320m payout. ECM Libra Financial Group is distributing up to RM320.1m to entitled shareholders, or approximately RM1.20 per share via a proposed capital reduction and special dividend exercise. This distribution exercise will be implemented through a proposed share capital reduction of ECM Libra amounting to approximately RM234.7m or 88 sen per share, while the remaining amount of RM85.4m will be via the proposed special dividend of 32 sen per share. Yeah, but due to few concerns such as how Fitch is now considerig a "downgrade", and for the time being Moody's maintained our credit rating.

The only way for us to go up is if Crude Oil Futures rises, which happened overnight. 1720 is just right on the corner as far the market is concerned. A mild rebound today after few days of more than half a percent falls as shown yesterday is definitely welcomed.

Navis Asia offers RM2.20/shr for Cocoaland on 25/5
Then, First Pacific offers RM2.70/shr on 2/6
Any possibility for Navis Asia to up the offer to RM3.00/shr?

Plantation stocks that with high foreign debt in USD may be hit by RM depreciation.

Elnino is not a certainty (yet) although high possibility.

Even though Elnino may send CPO price higher, it may cause lesser output of palm oil.
Lesser output - lower revenue, but price goes up - higher revenue, so neutralising each other.

Businesses don't work like that, especially CPO got futures to hedge upon.

Generally, businesses do not speculate on the price, as businesses focus is always to sell its product/production.
Higher price extra profit, no higher price, still profit.
No sell old stock, no profit.

From business pov, you choose which one? tongue.gif

Yes, with the warrant, you are entitled to get a new mothershare at 0.46.

You can do the conversion anytime before 2020, but not latter.

This SPAC counter Sona will expire in 11 months. If nothing acquired by this date what will happen. How does it work? Money refunded to investors in full with interest or just capital protected. So those that invested from day one , are they being given any special dividend or interest annually?

Capital protected? Interest? That bond, not spac.
The remaining money will go back to investors.

Hi. Wondering any expert could give some opinion on Super? Saw the news the company is taken over by MCC at 3.80. Fri closing at 3.56 still under value. Will it still increase? To hold or to let go? Thanks

The offer is subject to receive 90% of voting shares upon closing
Presently we dunno whether MCC will succeed or fail, thus u see discount from RM3.80

KLCI was up 10.99 points or 0.64% to 1,732.76. Turnover was 1.54 billion shares valued at RM1.82bil. The broader market was firmer with 561 gainers to 238 losers and 306 counters unchanged.

A remisier with a local investment bank said the KLCI’s rise was in line with positive sentiment across regional markets.

He also said bargain hunting and a stronger ringgit versus the US dollar had driven up the KLCI.

KLCI was down 5.9 points or 0.34% to 1,726.86 and year-to-date, it is down 1.95%, which is the second worst performer after Jakarta’s Composite Index which is down 5.53%.

Turnover was 1.73 billion shares valued at RM1.68bil. There were 396 gainers, 407 losers and 326 counters unchanged.

The weaker market sentiment was not unexpected due to the resumption of selling by foreign funds though the market has been shored up by local funds. Retail investors have been seen active in smaller capitalised stocks and penny counters.

Turnover was 1.78 billion shares valued at RM1.88bil. Advancers led decliners 443 to 353 while 288 counters were unchanged.

Areca Capital Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Danny Wong attributed the market’s optimism to the improvement in the US economy and a slight recovery in oil prices.
