Ugh... Celcom's reception in KL is disappointing... guess I fell for the whole "Celcom has the best reception" thing that so many people were saying. I'm in my office in Jalan Ampang, and all I can get is one bar on E at best, sometime no reception at all.

It's not even as good as U mobile, which can get at least full bar on E. Here I thought I might even get 3G if I switched to Celcom, joke's on me shakehead.gif

Sigh, even though the package is good, I might have to port back to U mobile. They don't have 4G around my office, but at least there's reception.

I suspect celcom designed their network where idle connection is on 3g and data transfer is on hsdpa.

Yup +1 i noted that too on my line. always on 3g and will switch to H+ only when using a lot of data

Yes, I have. No difference though.

Funny thing is that I can even see the Celcom building from my office window, haii...

Is there any way to complain about the shitty reception I'm getting? Otherwise have to go back to U mobile for better reception (still can't believe I'm saying that, lol).

Note: to be fair, at ground floor of my office I can get full 4G reception. I lose that once I go up to 16th floor.

yup, if you feel you stay at office and use the 4G all day long, change back to U Mobile.
But if you travel a lot and want to get widest 4G, celcom wins. I'm UM user before as well.

* not sure why you want 4G when you are in office...? No wifi? Or office blocked all internet...? smile.gif But I believe every telco got blind spot...

Mobile coverage is like a umbrella, better coverage occurs at lower floors while bad signal in high floors, unless your office has install those antenna to solve reception issues

check whether yr office got internal antennas or not. otherwise the indoor signal at higher floors are always weak. u cant blame weak signals at high floor because this is depend upon building management's problem rather than telco.

I'll check with building management on that. But it's strange that I can get full reception (albeitly just on Edge) on U mobile while almost nothing on Celcom. If it's a common antenna, shouldn't they all get boosted at the same time?

Oh, I do have wifi at the office. I'm just a little annoyed that U mobile gets better reception than Celcom right here in "Celcom Territory™" tongue.gif

Don't get me wrong, the Celcom plan is still very attractive. I use Spotify a lot these days when traveling to/from work, my old 1 GB U mobile plan wasn't really cutting it anymore.

afaik, internal antenna is separated among telco. ie. maxis internal antenna is emitting signal for maxis only

If the telcos themselves are doing it then yes, it will be for their signal only. If the building management is doing it, they can include all telcos. Apparently there are some who do it for their own homes. See here:
