And just to confirm something - I'm on Streamyx Enterprise (3MB downstream) and my BT speeds haven't been affected at all. If I run lots of concurrent downloads, I can get 100+k/sec easy.

Also, my general downloading speed doesn't change throughout the day. I can max out my connection at 320kb/sec at any time and on any day I want when I download from my Usenet service.

So when TMNet say they are running out of bandwidth, what they are really saying is that they are running out of the bandwidth allocated for the users on the home packages. They do not reveal just how much spare capacity there is on the business lines. And based on my consistent performance, zero disconnections and totally reliable throughput, there is A LOT of excess capacity that they are choosing not to release to the home users.

Because of increased BT DL = increased piracy? The main diff between pirated copies and original copies are the quality. Some people wants quality(like me, got >300 ori audio cds)
*
and your point is??

are you try to tell ppl that you have lot's of ori cd and want us to say we are proud of you??go play some where else with your cd ok biggrin.gif you don't have to tell us how many "ori" cd you have i believe no 1 give a damn biggrin.gif

General http is OK, BT no. You must be mentioning my earlier thread bout my connection at home. Same hhtp OK BT no. Max dl at both locations <5kb daytime <10kb after 1 am. Only if DHT is off do I get that speed. I don't recall ever mentioning that my BT is ok sad.gif

something funny happened to my bt last night. my vpn speed suddenly drop to zero after running for about 20 minutes. so i switched it off and i let the torrent continue running. To my surprise, my speed suddenly flew to 150K+ unthrottled! I wonder if michael lai told those nuts to unthrottle me or what? will check my speed again tonight after work.

NWK that happened to me on Saturday night though the speed burst only lasted 10 or so seconds - it happened a few times during the evening though.

for me the speed burst lasted until the end of my download. the speed was not consistent though. it was more like a roller coaster ride. Sometimes it will go up to 150K+ and sometimes it will go down to about 50K+. All my peers at the time were a mix of local and international peers.

Yep, I know what I'm talking about. I can't get 320kb/sec sustained on a 2MB line, can I... wink.gif

Then maybe it is geographical. In my area, nothing is affected. Especially when I download from this particular server - six concurrent connections, and I max my bandwidth any time 24/7. If I started to see throttling I would cancel my account.

I don't really want to give any details on specific location, in case someone is watching (you never know!). I pay RM688 a month.

you don't have to give a specific location. just a general description of your location will do. BTW, if you pay RM688 a month and they throttle you, not only should you stop paying them, you should sue them for breach of contract, since they never say anything about throttling in their terms.

Yes but there are others on this thread who say they are on Corporate (which is MUCH more expensive than Enterprise, which is what I am on) and are getting throttled.

??

corporate lines getting throttled while enterprise lines are unthrottled? this doesn't make any sense at all. if i were a corporate user and they throttled my line, i would sue tm*nut to high heaven. why pay for a premium account just to get dial-up speeds?

thanks for the feedback. i could be wrong but i think there are some users in shah alam that are throttled also. but these guys are mostly basic home package users.

if your download is stuck at 0 all the time. that could only mean one thing. you are throttled to high heaven. do you mind telling us what area you are in?
