Folks,

I'm super frustrated. My 18-200 VR2 / D5300 is always having issues focusing in low light, and many times wont even auto-focus or allow me to press the press the shoot button. I'm not sure if the issue is with the lens or camera. Any suggestions ?

i think this is normal when u has focus priority being set. it mean if the camera cant focus then it wont let u snap at all.

but for the reason y it can get focus...it very hard to comment what kind of low light u refer to...but to get easy focus in low light condition, always look for some bright area in the scene that is same distance to the object u want to snap

Is normal. Even the Nikon D610 has a bit of problem focusing at low light. Turning on the AF Assist light helps a lot. And try use single point AF and aiming at high contrast target.

Or, sell you camera and get a camera with -3 ev focusing capability. For instance, the D7200, Canon 7D Mark II or even a Pentax K-5IIs.

Cheers...... icon_rolleyes.gif

since its AF-S lens u can always manual focus override in auto focus.
and if u really want to fire away without caring whether its in focus or not, go to settings AF-S or AF-C priority selection and select 'release'.

2nd & 3rd one is a nice photo. Try to touch up a bit, let it more depth & rich.

What do you do to make a female happy before mating? You give her a massage!

And here's a male Reinwart's Cross Spider showing us how its done. The males are known to seduce and turn on female spiders by rubbing on their legs and body parts; this will give the male spider an opening to mate with the female (without being eaten, of course XD)
