Two male Argiope spiders (top left) fighting over the female.

Unfortunately, in the spider world, the fastest and strongest males do not always get to the female. A hungry female may actually eat up the much smaller male.

So the male doesn't only have to be strong and fast, he has to be smart too to be able to mate successfully. This is an example of evolutionary pressure.

Thinking should I quit Photography... been stop using my nikon d7k n d4 for quite some time d...

Gears getting rusty ... button getting stiff!
I m guess my 50mm f1.8 become a fungal societies d ... Left back Tokina 11-16, nikon 70-200, 35mm f1.8, tamron 90mm macro and 18-105 kit lens and few more...

Left back few big guns sit calmly in my bag since last year...
Thinking of switching to D750 and selling off my D7k and D4. If there's any Nikon FX dslr can shoot 4K, wouldnt mind save money for that... but is there any dslr like tat in the market now?
Wonder how much can I sell for D7k with original battery grip?!

Happily enjoying my Canon G16, iPhone camera and a cina brand action camera... Lazy to walk with big guns especially while traveling...

Not really sure about the ID, but this particular damselfly has a tail that is shorter than its wings, so it under the family Chlorocyphidae; or more commonly known as "Gems".

These beautiful damselflies can usually be found in botanical gardens to forest parks, where they love to just perch on small twigs.

Wanted to ask fellow nikon sifus here before I jump into nikon tongue.gif

Is there any good wide angle lens for nikon dx system that costs around rm1k (used or not)? Closest result from my own research is the 16-85mm. The kit lens is doing fine but I would like a more responsive AF lens.
*
Good wide angles for DX can be Nikon 10-24mm or the 12-24mm but there are no where near your asking price even 2nd hand. But if you can consider the 18-140mm, not too bad either and goes for less than 1k used.

QUOTE(mingyuyu @ Apr 20 2015, 07:20 PM)
And how's the 80-200 f2.8 Af-s like? it's quite an old lens so any common issues with it?
*
I like it very much. I just got the VR2 because I need to shoot in low light and made some comparisons with the AF-S 80-200mm f/2.8. Focusing speed / lock goes to the VR2 but only because it's a newer lens. Not day and night difference like AF-D vs AF-S, just slightly faster only. Surprisingly for an old lens, it's still good on a high density sensor like the D800. You'd only see very slight difference in quality when viewing at 100% on monitor and most of the time the sub par shot is mostly because of user error. Calibrate the lens to the body and with right technique, you'll get excellent shots.

QUOTE(gnome @ Apr 21 2015, 01:43 PM)
Dont think there is any nikon wideangle that cost around 1k iirc. 16-85mm is a good lens apart from the variable aperture.

as for 80200 afs i've used my friend copy few times and seems solid. heavy as heck and build like a tank laugh.gif. the afs motor also smooth, no hunting like 80200 two touch that i've used before.
*
Yes, the AF-S 80-200mm f/2.8 is solid and built like a tank. One of my most used lens. I've used mine now for 10 years already. biggrin.gif

oh yea anyone here use tamron 2470 vc? currently using nikon 2470 thinking of upgrade (or is it upgrade) to tamron 2470 vc lol  blush.gif
*
Errr, how can the Tamron be an upgrade to the Nikon?

QUOTE(gnome @ Apr 21 2015, 11:44 PM)
From what i can see nowdays people buy sony mirrorless camera then buy adapter and slap on nikon or canon manual lenses since the A mount lens either too expensive or not yet available
*
Yup.

QUOTE(gnome @ Apr 21 2015, 11:44 PM)
I have a friend who sell off his A7R and bought Fuji XT1. The reason is limited lens choices from sony (this guy money no issue one laugh.gif)
*
I think it's silly. In my opinion, with the Sony A7 series, one has the most lens option to choose from. rolleyes.gif

QUOTE(Everdying @ Apr 24 2015, 11:16 AM)
oh ya, 80-200 AF-D 2-ring version can have issue of the AF-MF ring cracking.
but its still a cheaper fix then changing a motor tongue.gif

but at the current used price of the 80-200 2-ring now its still decent value...else there's always sigma 70-200 tongue.gif
*
Yeah, the crack in the AF-MF ring does not make the lens AF-less. AF still works.

Read that it's not too bad if compared to the ultra expensive Nikon 14-24mm f/2.8. A good alternative for those who cannot afford the Nikon.

Wah, D4? Respect. biggrin.gif

BTW, don't know if you're aware or not but if you're interested in shooting 4k, then you're in the wrong camp. You should be getting a Note 4, S5 or S6.

My very first Digital Camera was 2.1 Megapixel BenQ DC2300 (yr 2003) and so on was> GrandVision > Pentax Optio E10 > Sony Cybershot DSC-P3X > Panasonic Lumix LS5 ... (many more)... till Nikon D5000 > D7000 > D4 > Canon G16 n go on...

Now venturing in underwater photography... Those equipment is crazily pricy!!! sweat.gif

user posted imageAgelenid spider ♂ (Agelenidae) by PF T.J., on Flickr

A male Agelenid spider. These spiders are often called "Orb Weavers" which build a flat sheet of non-sticky web with a retreat tunnel somewhere around the middle of the web. The spiders often wait near the tunnel for insects (especially grasshoppers) to leap into the web and become trapped.

Agelenid spiders are very fast runners, and will quickly dart into their retreat tunnels at the slightest disturbance.

Some of these spiders were reported to be social spiders too, rare!

Crane Flies are medium to large-sized flies that pretty much look like oversized mosquitoes.

Known commonly as "Mosquito Lion" or "Mosquito Hawk", adult Crane Flies don't actually hunt mosquitoes; in fact, they do not eat at all. Adults only have 10-15 days to mate before dying.

Not all grasshoppers look like the ones we usually see. Some have long, slanted faces; and that's how these particular group of grasshoppers got their names.

These medium-sized insects are highly sensitive and prefer living in bushes and undergrowths.
