QUOTE(GloryKnight @ Jul 11 2012, 02:24 PM) hi all, could any of you recommend me a whey protein powder for building lean mass (grow muscles and maintain weight)? I dont want to bulk, just lean mass is fine. No need for that just proper diet and nutrition is enough

Guys. I'm real skinny and just wanted to gain lean mass and stay. It's very very difficult for me to gain any weight since my teens. Any recommendations? I'd have supplements and I wanted to know what are the suitable ones.

QUOTE(alien9 @ Jul 18 2012, 01:58 AM) Or the so called anabolic window myth? Yes indeed so my question is my post workout mass gainer supplement sufficient enough or do i still need to have normal meal to meet my calorie needs ? if i do need to have my regular food ? how long after my post workout protein shake would that be ? Nobody here can answer that because we don't know your required caloric intake. And whether or not to wait before eating solid food after your shake is up to you. If you can stomach a meal after a shake, go ahead. If not, wait for a while.

Are you bulking? How much weigh have you put on recently? I'd say no not enough but that's just me. Post training should rightly be your biggest meal of the day if on a gaining cycle so should be > 1000 calories This post has been edited by DJJD: Jul 21 2012, 01:19 AM

The following two articles are very interesting Nutritional strategies to promote postexercise recovery. Int J Sport Nutr Exerc Metab. 2010 Dec;20(6):515-32 http://journals.humankinetics.com/AfcStyle...9_0165+1-17.pdfCombined ingestion of protein and free leucine with carbohydrate increases postexercise muscle protein synthesis in vivo in male subjects. Are you sure.....????! A yes and no answer. On why it's a myth: http://www.scribd.com/doc/90705250/Alan-Aragon-ExcellentOn the other side of the coin, we want to optimize protein synthesis. QUOTE(alien9 @ Jul 21 2012, 02:32 PM) While I respect Dave Barr, after reading all that, I disagree with him. His methods seems more geared to elite level athletes and BBers. I especially disagree about the 24-hour elevated window for protein synthesis. While it may be true on research for Olympic athletes I doubt its true for average Joe. Your and my workout is a pale shadow compare to what lets say Michael Phelps or a elite Olympic lifter's workout in the gym. Our genetics are also much worse than them. Hence, we can conclude that our nutritional needs and patterns should be different.

If you don't feel anything weird such as you want to vomit during your workout, then it is ok.

After reading much articles from the web, i truly understands the actual way of getting a leaner body. A proper diet meals + cardio is way better than relying on protein supplements. Thanks man
