Hello everyone,

I jus wanna ask whether is my diet alright if i wanna gain muscle. Thanks smile.gif

Breakfast- Currently working part-time and meals provided normally eat rice with either vegetable and meat or eggs.

Throughout my working time, i will drink cup of either cold or hot water with lemon in it.

Lunch- Rice with vegetable and chicken

Dinner- Steam chicken breast/ Steam fish with 2 hard boiled eggs + Orange or Apple
This part im not sure is it good or not but even I still feel full, i will jus cook 1 more slice of small steam chicken or fish as supper around 9pm for the protein.
I workout normally after my lunch. And if Im on my offday, i workout in the morning and evening in gym. And i do go on protein shake, drink 30mins before workout and after workout.
Kindly advise if I should change any part of my diet. Appreciate it. smile.gif

Whether your diet is all right or not is depending on you. If your diet here reach your target calorie intake, reach the needed macro nutrition ratio, then it is all good. It is hard to tell you whether it is enough or not for your bulking phase since, you don't have any macro nutrition ratio details and your daily calorie intake. Find those two value and we can comment on your diet.

hi all, could any of you recommend me a whey protein powder for building lean mass (grow muscles and maintain weight)? I dont want to bulk, just lean mass is fine.
*
No need for that just proper diet and nutrition is enough

Guys.  I'm real skinny and just wanted to gain lean mass and stay. It's very very difficult for me to gain any weight since my teens. Any recommendations? I'd have supplements and I wanted to know what are the suitable ones.
*
It's not the supplements but the diet is far more important. You don't need a supplements, it's not magic powder.

Hey Alien9,

Thanks for the reply

IMO isn't that how post workout nutrition works ? when you body is in a nutrient-hunger state ?

If you don't feel anything weird such as you want to vomit during your workout, then it is ok.

Kindly advise. thanks
*
What's the purpose of you taking the protein shake in the first place?

its a supplement?
i thought that on days that I workout, the intake/usage will be more, thus drink it.
on days that i dont workout, intake/usage is normal, thus dont drink.

Should i be drinking it everyday?  rclxub.gif

Sure, it a supplement but for what? For supplementing protein into your diet. If your daily diet doesn't have enough protein (as per 1g per 1lbs), then you should consume the supplement. And those protein requirement is fix on every day unless your weight changed.

But if you had to ask that question, then your diet must be not ok true?

QUOTE(epsonstylux @ Mar 5 2013, 02:39 AM)
hey guys, I don't know whether this is the correct thread to ask.

but I'm working out now, and after workout, I usually have this pain in the area that I'm building muscle on, and that's normal. But I'm taking a lot of time to recover and that's hindering my progress. Usually after workout, I will need 4-5days to recover from the pain, and I just skip the session. sad.gif

I try to consume protein, but I don't really know the exact amount of protein needed for me. I'm 172cm, 65kg.

Currently I've been eating half boiled eggs 4-6/day (2 yolks/day), been drinking fresh milk 1 litre/2 days. is that enough? or I need more protein?
*
That is called DOMS. Truth to be told, the muscle fibres need to be torn first before it is being make into a tougher and bigger muscle. Hence working out is the 'torning/breakdown' process, resting is the recovery process. You need to do this both to ensure that your muscle grow big effectively.

About the protein part, yes. Your protein consumption is very low. At your weight which is 150lbs, you need at least 150g of protein (1g per 1 lbs body weight). That is the rule of thumb. If you don't provide your muscle with sufficient protein, there is no raw sources that your body can use to help repairing the muscles.

Hope this help.

instead of swallowing big bottle of whey, i drink it bit by bit during the 30-60 seconds break between set. Is it counter productive?

hmm.gif  sweat.gif
*
What's the reason for you to sips whey protein between sets? Is it intra-workout? Nope. It's just a protein which does not have any immediate effect on your sets. So why should you do that?

chief, it is because i feel thirsty during workout and if i keep sipping water then hantam protein again whole stomach is h2o.

shall i don't drink anything until post workout only take protein shake?  notworthy.gif
*
Well, if the reason you took whey during workout so that you won't be bloated, than it's okay. BUT, you are consuming whey and your digesting system will work during you working out. Ain't that consume more energy? But then again, you have the whole day to consume your whey shake, why don't you do it some other time and keep the water : protein ratio high, that should keep out the bloatiness.

Depends, its better to take hydrobuilder if youre skinny. Hydrowhey if its harder for you to diet. You can take hydrobuilder if you're overweight, but it'll double your work when you want to cut. So hydrobuilder for bulk, hydrowhey for cut. But in my opinion, Pro complex all the way.
*
I'm cutting at the moment successfully yet I consume Hydrobuilder. Is it wrong?

it's not wrong but it'll be harder in my opinion. calculate your calories deficit, work on your diet and it'll be a lot easier.

hi

noob here. want to ask about my pwo meal

1 or 2 medium sized banana and 6 tbsp oats + milo (not a big fan of oats btw)
can i add 1 can of tuna in water for protein source?
is this a good combo?

pls advise smile.gif thanks in advance
*
Most pre-wo ingredient are carbs. They usually don't put protein in it because it makes your stomach full (depending on the amount).

Props on having that BMR and TDEE value. Do you have your macro-intake as well?

You need weighing scale to weigh the food and then use myfitnesspal to calculate the total calorie intake.

I have no idea how to reach the target calories around 2300 (from fitnesspal)
should I just eat whatever as long as clean not oily to reach my calories target ? or double up the portion of rice or meat ?

You need to have your macronutrition set too. Need to know how much Carb/Protein/Fat intake you need to have for your current goal.

After that, you can head to this awesome website called Eat This Much I just found. It's a meal planner site where you can set your meal amount, food choices, budget etc2.
