Any maxis Home fiber user at bukit mertajam? Got call from them ask me to switch from vip5 to 10mb maxis. Is the line reliable at BM?
*
From Taman Bukit, being using Maxis Fiber for 2 yrs, no issue so far, but I am using custom router from day 1. Max download is 9.45Mbps and upload 9.8Mbps. No downtime so far,

Pretty sure I came across this thread from google https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2470906/+1700 and back in 2012 lots of people already has ipv6?

I just didn't understand much of the instructions on how to enable it.

That, plus this guy mention there's no official ipv6 https://znarl.jobrate.org/mediawiki/index.p..._On_Maxis_Fiber

So what's what, and who's who. I'm so confused. That is probably one thing that will give me all sorts of headache if I had to follow ALL of his instructions just to enable ipv6.

My First Day experience with Maxis Home Fiber 10Mbps (switch from Unifi VIP5)

Using same BTU from TM (Huawei some model)
Maxis Router (Technicolor xxx V3)

5pm test run.

Speedtest - DL-9.65Mbps UP-10Mbps (server Time KL)
Torrent (utorrent) - Game of thrones latest Ep (so i know the torrent is healty) - DL - 1MBps ~ 1.1MBps
Streaming - Youtube - FAST
- Kissanime - some streaming sites - FAST
- Some Hentai web streaming (=.=) - FAST
- Cooldrama - FAST

10pm test run.

Speedtest - DL-9.65Mbps UP-10Mbps (server Time KL)
Torrent (utorrent) - Game of thrones latest Ep (using same torrent as on 5pm) - DL - 200KBps ~ 250KBps
Streaming - Youtube - FAST
- Kissanime - some streaming sites - FAST
- Some Hentai web streaming (=.=) - FAST
- Cooldrama - FAST

So i guess they throttle torrent D/L.

Will continue test for few days...

Nope, they are not throttle....

U should understand regarding port forward, and by default Maxis give user PRIVATE IP which is unable to port forward anything.

U need to call up Maxis center and request them change ur internet to PUBLIC IP, and after that you can do port forward...

After u request them change, u need to change ur PPPoE ID etc...

And last, better use other brand router rather than Maxis router for best performance happy.gif

thanks for your awesome reply..

well i do have a TP Link router i use previously to replace for my TM unifi router. But now the new router from maxis have VOIP included which i need it also for my house use.

I have read many forum talking about using Technicolor router as VOIP only and custom router as Internet dial up + Wifi.

the way todo it is change the Technicolor router to some bridge mode and the custom router using the PPOe something.

Hi Justbella

You mentioned in your reply that there are better router than TG784n V3.

Can you recommend some compatible routers that are better? I just upgraded to 20Mbps and they told me there is no need to change the router; they only provide username and password and that they cannot "see" any other router if I have problems.

I thought that was a bit strange but that's another story.

It's the router that I think can improve further especially if I have more than 10 devices connected - hp, PCs etc. I do not bother to use the VoIP.

Speedtest ookla all showed okay at 20Mbps.

For best router, u can choose Asus brand. For me I'm using Asus RT-AC55UHP which is within my budget + best performance which is Dual Band wireless smile.gif

If u want normal use, without Dual Band, you can goes for cheapest model which is 300mbps wireless N, Asus RT-N12HP.

D-Link is second choice router if you want more cheaper happy.gif

Hi

Many thanks for the super fast response.

I will check it up tomorrow besides comparing the pro and cons of single vs dual band wireless.

Are you using Maxis fibre? Any special set-up steps required other than just the username and password on the router?

I'm using both, my parent house using Maxis Fibre, while my house using Unifi.

Nowadays latest router or latest firmware for old model router doesn't require any special setup, just use the most easy wizard to setup the username and password and you're ready to connected to internet. Just remember to choose option "REQUIRE SPECIAL REQUIREMENT FROM ISP" den choose MAXIS-FIBRE profile or UNIFI-HOME profile or UNIFI-BIZ profile, den enter username and password, done.

Guys..I'm planning to upgrade my current 4Mbps(streamyx) to maxis fibre or unifi. The price for Maxis is quite cheaper because it offers 10Mbps RM148 while Unifi offer 30Mbps RM199, i know the price of Unifi is higher because the speed is higher too but i set my budget around RM150. So i think Maxis 10Mbps is acceptable. Based on my research, i saw many people complain a lot with their terrible service and quality about high latency in Dota 2 / CS:GO, internet speed is not stable, and many problems. Is that real? Can someone tell me the quality of the service and give me some opinion or suggestion? Should i give a try on Maxis fibre?

Noted: I was an ex-Unifi 20Mbps user and i terminated it last two years. Quality is good but quite expensive.

But what i heard from Maxis Center is that the free trial is not about satisfied or not satisfy, if you are feeling the quality is bad you must prove to Maxis then you can cancel. If there is not a big problem, you are not allow to cancel the free trial. Is that the terms of free trial?
