My First Day experience with Maxis Home Fiber 10Mbps (switch from Unifi VIP5)

Using same BTU from TM (Huawei some model)
Maxis Router (Technicolor xxx V3)

5pm test run.

Speedtest - DL-9.65Mbps UP-10Mbps (server Time KL)
Torrent (utorrent) - Game of thrones latest Ep (so i know the torrent is healty) - DL - 1MBps ~ 1.1MBps
Streaming - Youtube - FAST
- Kissanime - some streaming sites - FAST
- Some Hentai web streaming (=.=) - FAST
- Cooldrama - FAST

10pm test run.

Speedtest - DL-9.65Mbps UP-10Mbps (server Time KL)
Torrent (utorrent) - Game of thrones latest Ep (using same torrent as on 5pm) - DL - 200KBps ~ 250KBps
Streaming - Youtube - FAST
- Kissanime - some streaming sites - FAST
- Some Hentai web streaming (=.=) - FAST
- Cooldrama - FAST

So i guess they throttle torrent D/L.

Will continue test for few days...

Nope, they are not throttle....

U should understand regarding port forward, and by default Maxis give user PRIVATE IP which is unable to port forward anything.

U need to call up Maxis center and request them change ur internet to PUBLIC IP, and after that you can do port forward...

After u request them change, u need to change ur PPPoE ID etc...

And last, better use other brand router rather than Maxis router for best performance happy.gif

thanks for your awesome reply..

well i do have a TP Link router i use previously to replace for my TM unifi router. But now the new router from maxis have VOIP included which i need it also for my house use.

I have read many forum talking about using Technicolor router as VOIP only and custom router as Internet dial up + Wifi.

the way todo it is change the Technicolor router to some bridge mode and the custom router using the PPOe something.

When maxperts come todo the installation, they just bring the maxis router on bike. Ask me to buy new phone for the voip. I ask them why I can't use my phone currently plug on the btu use for my unifi? They don't know and need call the real maxperts on the phone.

Maxis no ipv6, VoIP rj11 cable sticks out from maxis's own router instead of TM's BTU. The TM BTU's rj11 port is reserved for TM subscribers. This configruration limit your router choice, not much router that has rj11 port

Well i need the landline phone and use the phone as my home security system and what i did was, bought a new powerful router (no RJ11 of course) but i set this router as AP, connect it to the Maxis original router. Turn off MAxis original router Wifi and use the new router wifi instead.

Maxis just change my router to the new TP Link (100Mbps package). Got some question..

when i use 2.4GHz wifi, my download speed only at 45-55Mbps,
if i change to 5GHz wifi, my download speed will goes up to 95Mbps...

is 2.4Ghz wifi always half of max download speed?

Also my eVOIP is not working, say will reset it wait 24hrs.

The setting on the new TP link router, they use 'TM' option is it suppose to be Maxis option?

The eVOIP ID i get is 822 is it correct?

Whether you believe it or not, 50Mbps is all you can get on 2.4GHz smile.gif
If speed is really important to you, use 5GHz or Gigabit LAN
5GHz exist because of this reason  whistling.gif

yup, that's what i want to know... 2.4GHz = 50Mbps, 5Ghz, 100Mbps..

maxis or your own wifi router? public ip?
tested voip on moto dect phone, its working. (need enable on quick setup if voice sip account blank)
[attachmentid=10021736]

phone number/user name = maxis voip number (e.g:- 0312345678)
password=account number + last 4 digit voip number (e.g:- 00000111115678)
*
yup all the id and password is correct..i'll check with CS.
