Not everyone has the option or luxury. Guess I will py RM10 for public IP to keep my sanity.

QUOTE(loonsave @ Apr 11 2023, 05:16 PM) sounds like you have built an ecosystem all the while on public IP.and that ecosystem didn't failover gracefully when additional layer of NAT is introduced. maybe you need to review your previous set up and configuration. |

QUOTE(Oltromen Ripot @ Apr 11 2023, 06:30 PM) sounds like you have built an ecosystem all the while on public IP. Not really. I don't have any system that exposed to the Internet. But when I used public IP last time, when I opened YouTube app in my TV, thumbnails will show immediately, but now need to wait a few seconds.and that ecosystem didn't failover gracefully when additional layer of NAT is introduced. maybe you need to review your previous set up and configuration. And what make me frustrated is the intermittent request timeout. I either pause or timeout my office VPN when I WFH. It impact my productivity though. But I can't tell for now is it really the public IP issue, or the last 2 days that when I WFH. |

QUOTE(taylormade @ Mar 17 2023, 11:50 AM) As previously mentioned, I have ported over from digi home fiber 50mbps to maxis 300mbps. Installer came and fixed it up but couldn’t get anywhere near 100mbps and left saying he will inform Hq (he didn’t do it) I had to make a call and lodge a complaint then another maxis guy came to check , he fiddled here and there and saw my max only 100mbps from his app. He called TM guy to come over and changed to another modem(mine was over 5years old) and whalla my 5ghz speed is around 300mbps now. ahh one of the possibility is that because the LAN cable is only CAT 5 which is only capable of carrying 100mbps max. only CAT 5e LAN cable onwards can carry 1gbps and beyond. also 5 years ago not many people were having more than 100mbps subscription, so kinda pointless of them to give CAT 5e during the unifi vip 5, 10 20 era.My question now is, how come my 2.4ghz can only do around 60mbps? Maxis guy told me it’s normal and just use 5ghz. Is this true? |

Maxis called me to offer replace my current router with newer model "Wifi 6" router. Said that my pre-existing Huawei LG8245X6-10 is older model.
She said the new model is also Huawei and EasyMesh, which I can look up at Maxis website. But when I look at the site before, can only see the Kaon model being touted, and I doubt it's Huawei.... Also, since I have no guarantee that the alleged newer model (i) is better in terms of functionality compared to older, and (ii) I recently spent to buy 4th node of the old model, I declined the offer to upgrade (and another 24mth lockdown). Anyone here using Xiaomi security camera and able to access it from outside their homes?
Judging from the replies so far, doesnt seem worth saving RM10 for all the other problems. |

QUOTE(adamw @ Apr 13 2023, 07:32 PM) because i have bought additional Easymesh nodes that matches my existing Huawei router model. And I have the top-most admin login so I can configure as I need. The last thing I want is replace with an unknown Kaon router with unknown level of configurability. Maxis staff say new one is "Huawei" as well as shown on website, but where is this new Huawei featured? All i see is the unknown Kaon. And, this the time to lock people on old prices, before they announce revision post MSAP reduction. This post has been edited by Oltromen Ripot: Apr 13 2023, 07:40 PM |

QUOTE(PRSXFENG @ Apr 13 2023, 10:14 PM) the root password is floating around somewhere in the forums for that Kaon The LG8246X6-10 is surprisingly feature-packed, that's why I just don't want to gamble with possibility of it being replaced by (expectedly inferior) Kaon. not sure on how good/reliable it is but there is a rant thread in this forum thats kinda far back now easymesh is an open standard, regardless of brand, can connect. I did ask before the features of Kaon but nobody answered. If there is a complain about LG8245X6-10, is that the LAN and DHCP is limited to /24 subnet; I cannot grow it to /23. And, only 16 entries for static DHCP. As for Easymesh, the LG8245X6-10 can create 3 SSID each for 2.4GHz and for 5GHz; total of 6 distinct SSIDs. I'm not sure if other brand and/or model can actually match that number of SSIDs. I have 2.4GHz SSIDs set up, each for smart HA switch, for smart HA socket, and another for anything else smart HA. QUOTE(Alpha_Tay @ Apr 13 2023, 01:46 PM) from what i do a few simple search, it's more than Maxis’ own-build fibre broadband infrastructure, but not all TM’s HSBB network, or the definition, or what i dun know yet. https://www.business.maxis.com.my/en/data-internet/fibre/ https://soyacincau.com/2023/04/12/maxis-off...ly-rm189-month/ |
