Hi all, having some issues with online gaming and just thought I'd try to get some insight here. Whenever I try to play certain multiplayer games (specifically nintendo games and pc fighting games), I get errors relating to NAT type, preventing me from connecting to other players. I had already called Maxis to get a public address, and putting my console in DMZ has solved all issues, but is this the only solution? I've heard that it is generally unsafe to put my PC in DMZ so I'd like to avoid that if at all possible.

I'm using the default Maxis Thompson router so I suspect that is indeed the case. I did try port forwarding with this router but I was always notified that the ports were already being used, or it just flat out didn't work at all. Oh well, I will be moving out soon so I hope I won't have the same issues with other ISPs..

Anyone here on 500mbps?
I just subscribed yesterday, can get +400mbps on speedtest but I'm barely getting 100-260mbps for my usual download with/without vpn.

I know it's maxis best effort, but does anyone here actually able to fully utilize that 500mbps speed or that's just normal.

Really bro.

I'm using pfsense and kerio control as firewall on server. You may Google those 2 product and you'll understand. Those thing also can do as internet gateway.

so your server is solely functioning as a firewall and to dial into the internet? or does it has other roles? what's your server hardware like?

Using Archer C5v, apparently by default the firewall on the router is toggled on and it blocked my devices from finding and connecting to my first gen Chromecast.

Disabling firewall, fixes the issue.

I thought firewall only block access from the internet into your local LAN, or between LAN and the internet. If your devices and Chromecast are on the same LAN, the firewall should not interfere right?

I tried FTP'ing between 2 devices one act as server and the other client between 2 devices on the same LAN and always fail to connect after the router running for a few hours, then restart it works again.

Somehow the router's firewall seem to be blocking ports after a while. Need to restart then only will work again.

Hi guys!

I'm a user of Maxis Archer C5v.

I must say before their implementation of the TP-Link Archer C5v modem, their older modem router works fine and smooth.

After they implemented a new modem router (TP-Link Archer C5v) everything starts to go batshit. I'm using it for gaming purposes. And each time 20 mins gap of use it can go randomly DC for a short length of time and reconnect back itself internally.
What's worse? You may not have encountered it before but we call it "Selected disconnection". For example : "Facebook and Google is connects normally but MapleSEA and Phantasy Star Online 2 is completely disconnected (Timeout)

When the disconnection issue hits, not just my PC. It affects all the PC and wireless devices that connection to this modem. Maxis then suspect it's my LAN cable issue, like wtf?

Called up to Maxis, they say they don't see any disconnection issue happening WELL DUH! IT'S INTERNAL INTERMITTENT DISCONNECTION! For the 21st time they sent their tech guys over. Rinse and Repeat "Reconfig Reset Leave" and told to monitor for 2 working days.

3 hours after the technician left. The problem came back. Called up to Maxis and telling them issue persist, they asked me to hang on while they contact the tech site. Next thing I see is "SMS : Your case has been closed" ???????

So right now what I'm really suspecting is the TP-Link Archer C5v modem is giving me all the shit and instability. There's no IPv6 enabled.

I'm thinking of switching over to a better modem to counter this issue. Thought of a gaming modem ROG Rapture GT-AC2900.

Thoughts guys?
