What is standard installation?

The standard installation covers the first 100 metres (outside your home) from the nearest Fibre Distribution Panel to the modem (inside your home). The installation provided is of standard specifications (over wall with clip)
Cost for any non-standard type of installations, such as over the ceiling, underground ducts, concealed wiring, and so on if required will be borne by you.

Never shy to ask installer to give extra length (if still within 100m) just in case you need to relocate the modem to different places within your house.

It's 100m from the FDU box (on that phone pole). That's good enough smile.gif

So, basically I just installed a Sonoff IP cam.
I called Maxis and got myself a public IP address.
TM modem -> TP-Link Archer C5v -> TP-Link Deco P7.

I setup port forwarding on both routers.

The CCTV IP cam is viewable from my mobile phone on public network - No problem at all here.

My only concern here is how long will this last until the public IP address is renewed?

Are there any 100% free DDNS services out there which doesn't require you to confirm hostname every 30 days?

My Deco P7 is a new router, it has TP-Link DDNS service but the problem is it is connected to the Maxis C5v router.

I cannot get rid of the C5v as family members make use of the phone (connected to the C5v) to make Voice calls. Will setting the C5v to bridge mode make the phone unusable?

Any suggestions appreciated.

I believe public ip is fixed, it will not changed from time to time.
Since you need the VOIP, there is no way to get rid of stock router.
Suggest you turned of wifi on stock router for better stability.

I really hope so, if the public ip is fixed, then all well and good.

My CCTV IP cam is still working fine when I tested from the public network today.

Only time will tell if they renew the lease. If this happens it's gonna be a pain in the a$$ to reenter the new ip in my app each time this happens..

yeah i turned off the wifi on the stock router. i'm using a mesh network with the Deco P7. Wifi coverage is good and the devices auto switches to the nearest deco seamlessly so it always gets the best signal.

anyway thanks for the response mate thumbsup.gif

**Edit: I just found out that the P7 also has DDNS. I tested it and it works so I believe this should resolve the lease renewal issue. Hope it continues working. smile.gif

I have similar setup as you, using Deco M5.
Internet and wifi is very stable since last year.

I just discovered that TP-Link also has free DDNS. I tested it today and it appears to be working. Let's hope it's really free and no catches. So far so good. smile.gif

You can no longer view usage for Maxis Fibre, that's what their support told me. Apparently since Maxis Fibre is unlimted, you don't need to know your usage!!
