Between Oct97 to May99 KLSE was below 750 and hit rock bottom in Aug98 at 300. ASB which was launched in 1990 and ASW in 1996 still surivive until now and the prices still fix at RM1. Was the situation then better than now?

When I am free I would redirect all the negative comments to ASNB to seek their answers for peace of mind. tongue.gif

This is the interesting part! During the 1997/1998 crisis, ASW actually gave the best dividends. Did they short sell the FKLI to make the money? brows.gif

Year Dividend (sen)
1997 10.10
1998 9.80
1999 8.20
2000 8.80
2001 7.25
2002 7.25
2003 6.60
2004 7.00
2005 7.10
2006 6.80
2007 8.00
2008 7.00
2009 6.30
2010 6.35
2011 6.50
2012 6.60

The concern on fixed to variable price change was raised earlier (will we be informed prior to the change etc). The additional infor I did not know was the 31 Dec 2015 date. Useful infor to keep in mind now. Yes, guilty, I did not read the prospectus!

I have emailed to ASNB on whether the funds will be changed to VP funds as of 1-Jan-2016 and if so, when will the existing unit holders be informed of the coming change.

I will share their reply here once I get it.  nod.gif

Cheerio.

P/S If you have a copy of the prospectus before 2011, please share here. Thanks.

I suspect that during the 'earlier' years (which I have not had the opportunity to profit from), the were a lot of retained earnings catering to a lower no units compared to today. Hence, the dividend per unit dropped as the years went by till today.

The ASW was launched 28 Aug1996. How many early years they could have?

During financial crisis in 2007/2008, ASNB oso maintain the Fixed price fund @ RM1/unit n withstand the Selling pressure
After goin thru 2 major crisis, m confident tat ASNB will ride thru current 'storm' calmly
*
That crisis was short, and the bottom of 900 lasted only 4 months (oct2008-feb2009), after that another 6 months KLSE reached 1200.

Okay,... whwre did they get the money from then ? Since mkt turned bad a year after they were launched, they must have made the money from somewhere. Yeah,.. one avenue could be like you said, from shorting the mkt,.... Or presumptiously, when it was first launched, PNB 'fiddled around' with the funds they have from other issues just to support this fund since it was just launched. hmm.gif

How come the price for ASx funds are still fixed at RM1 per unit?
http://www.asnb.com.my/pdf/PRODUK/Master_P...314complete.pdf
Pay attention to page 31,
5.12.2 Bases of Valuation on Investments for ASB, ASW 2020, ASM, ASD and AS 1Malaysia
The introduction of MFRS requires the Funds to apply NAV in its valuation bases and processes. The SC has
specified that the Fixed-Priced Unit Trust Funds are permitted but not required to comply with MFRS 139 and MFRS
7 for the financial years ending 31 December 2012 until 31 December 2015, subject to terms and conditions imposed
by SC.

Thanks Wil,.. okay waiting for your report tonight. I supposed we will study the earlier figures from the first Annual Report and match it to RM1.00, then looking at the current Annual Report details and using the same ratio (in reverse fashion) to produce the current nav, right ?

Doesn't matter,... same infos are being printed, but on different pages only. Unless, of course, there are other pages which detail out new changes and amendmentds detrimental to us, or disclaimers against us. However, for the subject at hand, same infos appeared in the prospectuses from different years.

Thank you, Plumberly,... for this initiative. Writing would be more effective, if they reply. I asked them verbally and they said to just wait for any related public ann't, if there is. Please update us on the official reply from PNB.

Sometimes it is better to write in than to call. Why? First, no offence to phone receptionists, they do not know everything about the company. So they tend to say things on the safe side for things they do not know.

From my experience, I do find Affin, CIMB, EPF & ASNB very good with their email replies. MB is quite hopeless!

Hope that ASNB side will escalate it to the right person up there and reply to me soon. Ha.

I don't see the issue raised as a problem as long as it is still RM1 per unit. Why? My capital (+ earned dividends) is still there. If they change it to VP, then 99.99999% I will cut and run! Ha.

Cheerio.

Valuations is applicable for all Fixed price Funds with exemptions up to Dec 2015 or Dec 2017 (ASB2 ony)
M more concern on price of a unit for AS1M n ASB2 as ASNB must disclose NAV/unit from 1/1/2016 or 1/1/2018 onward
Most likely ASNB will float AS1M n ASB2 on those dates
Major concern is how ASNB will manage the expectation of unit holders from Fixed to Variable price Funds in the event "actual" NAV is < RM1.00/unit sweat.gif
