Battle for Debaltsevo starting proper, 'Lviv' paramilitary unit engaged in skirmishes with pro-Russian separatists, commander among KIA

Reports of running battles has erupted in the Debaltsevo pocket. Ukrainian military sources confirmed 'Lviv' paramilitary unit is in protracted skirmishes with Pro-Russian separatists while attempting to open a supply corridor on the separatist-controlled Debaltsevo-Artemivsk highway route. As of time, casualties on both sides remain unknown, though it is confirmed by Ukraine military sources that one of the top commanders of the paramilitary unit, Dmytro Zaharia has been killed when his vehicle was hit by a mine or an IED in a separate incident.

Meanwhile, several captured Ukrainian servicemen stationed in Debaltsevo were interviewed by Separatist and Russian media. In the interviews, they have admitted the situation inside the pocket is dire and supplies are running out fast. They have also acknowledged the existence of 'blocking troops', soldiers stationed at the rear with express orders to open fire and execute any units retreating without orders.

K2 looks like have a nicely designed turret....unlike Abrams and other tanks....the front part of the turret is thinner vertically....but quite thick horizontally when seen from above. The armor blocks seems to end just in front of the commander and gunner sights

Juwata Airport, Tarakan


There is plan to make Juwata Airport in Tarakan to become permanent Air Force base some construction work has begun recently. Seoul forced to re-tender KFX bidding

Seoul has been forced to re-tender its bid for a developmental contract related to the country’s KFX fighter aircraft programme.

Since only one bidder, Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI), showed up to submit a bid on Monday 9 February, procurement laws have forced a retendering of the programme, says a report by state news agency Yonhap.

Yes....can't be overly optimistic with KFX program it can end in failure.....but the money planned for 50 units of KFX can be used to purchase other models....

KFX is planned as the replacement for Hawk 209/109 and will represent 3 squadrons. Other models could be selected, if KFX fails

Active protection won't be able to stop a KE penetrator. But reactive armor can. US and Germany once tested a Kontakt 5 ERA installed on a T-72. The ERA was able to stop the US M829 sabot round fired at point blank range.

There are some nice pictures of the Su-30MK2 armed with missiles.
