GLATGM  bro. one that fired from tank gun. javelin oso can.infact anythimg that flies less than 100m is fair game. hell if rpg can be used to down a blackhawk, why cant atgm?
*
What's the diff? ATGM has at best, limited anti-air capabilities, no matter infantry or tank-launched. The system itself is the same. The capability to steer a missile at a target doesn't translate to its anti-air capabilities. Remember, an aircraft is much faster and much more maneuverable than a tank and it also has a lot of 3D space to maneuver, both not favorable conditions for something that usually hunts heavy armored vehicles. A tank may only move 5 meters in a second but a helicopter would probably have moved 20-30 meters in the same amount of time.

RPG-7 is different case from normal ATGM, it has an exploit: The grenade of an RPG-7 will self-destruct if it reaches more than 900 meters, in effect turning the self-destructing grenade into a HE-FRAG warhead. Normal ATGM don't have this feature.

It's hard to do, but perfectly possible: Always shoot at helicopters near maximum range of RPG-7 to get HE-FRAG effect. Obviously this is damn hard to do with aircraft in open area where it can see the grenade coming and make evasive maneuvers but if circumstances forced aircraft into confined spaces like Bakara Market incident where Blackhawks were running close support for the Rangers, this forces them practically just hovering and running circuits around the city, this predictability of the Blackhawks' movements made it easier for the Somali RPG gunners to shoot them down.

a helo is not as maneuverable and much slower than even a turboprop aircraft, even so for old, slow ones like Mi-8, Super Frelon and sea king/nuri. is it possible? yes, is it recommendable? no.

Like I said previously, if u are a tank commander, when u saw attack helo, instead of engaging said attack helo, u better run and hide.

Hahaha given the advanced radar and electro/optical gear todays' attack helicopters are packing, they would probably detect you waaayyy long before you ever got a hint that they're even there. laugh.gif

I was once said the same thing actually. the counter argument was: other than AH-64D/E and Mi-24N, what else? just this 2. other rely on IR sensor and Mk1,mod-0 visual detection system(which is shitty in low illumination environment.

Even Tiger dun have them fancy detection radar

Attack heli currently is much deadlier with the support of uav.
new development of synthetic aperture radar, mildar and ncw really hard to escape from attack heli.

How about the German Tiger UHT? It has a mast-mounted sight. Shame it can only fitted with gun pods instead of the GIAT 30mm chin gun as according to wiki due to the Germans dissatisfation with the heavy recoil of the gun.

UKROBORONPROM INCREASES PRODUCTION OF TANKS – ROMAN ROMANOV

04/02/2015

State Holding UKROBORONPROM is planning to increase production of Ukrainian tanks almost by 25 times: from 5 up to 120 units annually, declared Director General of UKROBORONPROM Roman Romanov.

According to the plan for 2015, production development of armored vehicles “Oplot” will be increased up to 40 units; beginning with 2016, State Holding will produce up to 100-120 of units annually.

Enterprises of UKROBORONPROM are going to arrange mass production of armed vehicles “Dozor”. UKROBORONPROM is planning to produce up to 50 units of “Dozor” vehicles, and in the nearest future to increase the number of those up to 100 of units a year.

Specialists of State Holding UKROBORONPROM are initiating development of home-produced unmanned aerial vehicles and counter-battery fire systems. The first 3-coordinate radar locator station will be ready by 2016.

The quality control group is already working within State Holding UKROBORONPROM, checking each unit before sending it to the front line.

neh all attack heli face the risk of gas ingestion, viper and apache also faced risk of gas ingestion especially during hover and opposing wind condition and firing multiple rockets

apache have wider plyon to put greater distances between the rocket pod and engine and the same as viper. The ocket pod is always at the edge

russian like to put their rocket pod close to the engine while missiles at edge opposite of western style

And modern heli borne ATGM are fire and forget nowadays. So they pop up, fire their missile and then duck down before nayone know they're there.

Is it possible for us to create a Joint Operational Area in the border area between Sabah and Philipines? Several area like Sibutu Islands, Bongao Island, Jolo islands on Philipines side, and Lahad Datu, Semporna and part of sandakan in Eastern Sabah will be a joint patrol area. In this region, Malaysian and Philipines security forces can move freely without the need for further authorization from their respective government. Security forces on both side can cross the border to pursue suspect or conduct an operation.

i've read earlier abt tiger having upper hand bcos we have eurocopter hub in malaysia, and i think i have to agree with this. why buy something that has no support infra in malaysia? if rosak, until when we have to wait for it to be fixed? at least if we chose eurocopter product they can provide training, trained personnel, ground support and simulator via their malaysian hub

besides 6 birdie je poon. though i hope we could pull a jew on germany laugh.gif

it's a sight, not a radar. Tiger is designed to rely more on passive detection system and coupled with stealth design, makes it harder to detect. other reasoning includes the possibility of radar being jammed. thats why they dun install radar on tiger even for the anti tank variant

dunno abt the 30mm gun though. french been using them in their deployments in africa and so far they are happy with it. it's more on their preference i think

neh, if design bad, wont have client would like to buy also despite it bargain price

more like their preference to where they like to put their rocket pod. Close to engine higher the risk

then again, only in hover position you have greatest risk. Attack heli are on the move most of the time

then again 6 biji.. i doubt we will put in anti-tank role. More like a stop-gap attack heli for now. When we got more money, a full battalion tongue.gif

AK-47 doesn't require very precise machining standard, should be easy to build if you have standard metal stamping tools

those arent AK, but type 81

sound like im nitpicking here but AK mechanism is different from type 81. type 81 firing mechanism is more similar to SKS, but with full auto capability
