QUOTE(snowcrash @ Jul 31 2009, 09:29 PM) Short answer is yes, if there was a scenario where ASNB collapses, it would be very much in line with the Malaysian economy (not the government, the whole economy) collapsing. It would probably have to be something a magnitude worse than the late 90's crisis. If that DOES happen, you're probably screwed no matter where in Malaysai you keep your money. snowcrash, <<If that DOES happen, you're probably screwed no matter where in Malaysai you keep your money. >> The answer is SIMPLE. Do not keep ALL your money in Malaysia. Singapore is a short train / bus ride away. Dreamer

QUOTE(reevephon @ Jul 31 2009, 08:14 PM) How many interest for AS1M? Does it mentioned the range of the interest? Added on July 31, 2009, 9:14 pmJust a stupid question here, If ASNB collapse means Malaysia HABIS? The reason I ask this kind of question is because I've invested RM70k into those funds like ASM and ASW2020, and I scare of ASNB collapse then my money gonE!!!! I think the chance of PNB funds suffer huge nominal loss of more than 50% is slim, e.g. smaller than 30%. But cannot say that for RM. If USD depreciates against RM for 30%, what do you think BNM will do? Cut interest rate? Sell RM and buy USD? If BNM does any of these and US Fed believes the only way get out of this 'mess' is to devalue USD, then we have competitive devaluation, e.g. US Fed will 'print' more USD. So the nominal amount of your portfolio may be RM 70k X (1.07) power of 10 after 10 years, but what is the value of your portfolio, e.g. what can you buy? The only way to beat this is to have REAL return of more than 0% after adjusting inflation and currency devaluation "The answer is SIMPLE. Do not keep ALL your money in Malaysia. Singapore is a short train / bus ride away." It is a sad truth that some Malaysia Malaysians cannot think out of the box :-( This post has been edited by oumind: Aug 1 2009, 01:27 PM

QUOTE(??!! @ Jul 31 2009, 06:55 PM) Fund from EPF not enuf to fund 'stimulus pkg' ...so have to mop up more liquidity from the system via new fund, bond,t allow to take from EPF , then not achieve objective...jus take right pocket, put in left pocket If you realize there is more funds offered this year, then you have to ask why? Usually sources of fund are EPF, Petronas, etc.

QUOTE(??!! @ Jul 31 2009, 05:07 PM) Somehow, I am not too keen on this one. My instinct tells me to keep the distance. i kinda feel the same. previously everytime asm or asw opens up, i'll be there queueing...but somehow i don't feel so hot about this one. i think i'll diversify to some other types of investments. (maybe even forex)

Ennnh, anything that screws the M'sian fundamentals so badly that I'll need an exit will significantly impact Sg as well. Probably not as much, but it would be unpalatable as a lifeboat. Personally, my escape route is much further south... QUOTE(storekeeper) The way some of you people said like not safe or got problem only leh.. QUOTE(nizam86 @ Aug 1 2009, 10:11 AM) As mentioned many times here, it's better to invest in a more matured fund like ASB if you are a Bumi.

Not quite interested in this AS1M, because the interest is between 3.7~4% only, but it's also depends(means it may go up or down) on the situation of the Malaysia Stock...so I think better invest in those ASM or ASW2020 better. Just my 2cent. This post has been edited by reevephon: Aug 1 2009, 11:10 AM
