It has been months now that the weather hotter than usual but I do not noticed any difference on shedding on my cats though, even with DMH cats.
EDIT: Writing in forum can cause confusion sometime. When I read my post again today, it seems like I am disagreeing that cat can shedding more in certain seasons. Actually no though. Basically it just my observation on my cats. However, actually I do noticed that fur on my DMH cats are slightly less "thicker" than before though, if you know what I mean, especially around the head, neck & tail. My DMH cats a bit sensitive with the weather than other cats though.

speaking of shedding, recently from early May I do notice that my cats shed quite an amount of fur. the volume of the fur caught on their brush has been doubled. not sure if it's seasonal as i changed their diet 3 mths ago from Eureka to Britcare Missy
*
When I first brought my DMH in last year, her fur was still short as she was a kitten. Now her fur seems to be long and thick, however she does shed fur, but not enough for me to justify that her fur is less thick. Well, yes, it is less thick but not so significant.

Not too sure if this has anything to do with weather though, especially since my cat is still active and her daily routine has always been the same.
Perhaps I should try out other shampoos? Or are they any vitamins that I can give her?

"Thick" probably not accurate description. I think better word is the fur around the neck & tail become shorter than it used to be. When the fur around there longer, it'll look thicker but when shorter, it'll look less thick. smile.gif

BTW, do you guys have first aid kit for cat? Something simple like for treating fever & wound? I'm asking because the krim (dark yellow/orange colour) for wound that I got when spaying my cats before is pretty good in healing wound though. I've got some left that I used to treat a wound on my cat which happened because irritation from mosquito bite. I always use minyak gamat for treating wound but the krim working much faster though.

Shedding season does nothing to their behavior. They just shed a lot more fur.

EDIT: If it's not shedding season, and you haven't changed anything very recently, I don't think it's really anything to worry about. Cats and dogs ALWAYS shed.

Maybe put them in a cage after neutered.
It'll limit the cat movement.

complete healing will take about 10-14 days. Don't let them jump or run around too much. Get an E collar to prevent them licking the wound. A cage would keep them immobile. I personally didn't use a cage.

Basically similar post-operative with female cats? I was hoping to transfer him to 3-storey cage one or two days after surgery. Do you think it's good idea? With my girls around a month ago, I kept them in small cages which basically limited their movement. The thing with my cats is that they don't sits quietly, always something to do & living in rural area, basically lots of insects they like to hunt & play. Cage kind of necessary in my situation to limit their movement & to help the wound healing properly. Thinking that with male cat, the incision is extremely small, I wonder whether transferring him to bigger cage one or two day after surgery is a good idea or not.

For males its not an issue actually. They can move around after the operation as usual. Just don't bathe them for 10 days.

Both are allowed to move around. Just a matter of making sure the incision location doesn't tear open.

Talked to the vet when I visited the clinic to buy kitty litter (since the brand sold here seems to be the most absorbent one I've used). Anyway, according to him it's normal for DMH/ DLH to shed, as long as she's active and there's no change to her routine then there's no need to worry.

Just need to groom her on a daily basis, which I do now - about 5 mins every morning just combing and grooming her to collect all loose hair (which have been reducing now since I've started)

I'm giving Orijen which is good, but he suggested that I may move to Royal Canin since it helps maintain a healthy, smooth coat especially since I keep her indoors most of the time. Not too sure if I may switch kibbles again, since she seems to be very comfortable with Orijen, and given the fact that daily grooming has significantly reduced the amount of loose fur flying around the house and landing on furniture. Maybe that's why we call it FURniture after all eh? laugh.gif

Don't switch to Royal Canin. Just look at the ingredients list and you'll know that its all crap. Vets will recommend it because they're sponsored by the main company. That main company also sends these vets for training in nutrition and such which is biased towards their own product. Its akin to McDonalds sponsoring doctors to tell you that their food is good for your health.

Orijien will do fine in maintaining a good coat. Would be better if you can get them off kibble and on to wet/raw food.

Haha I know I just saw the list of ingredients too and I automatically wondered why they'd recommend me to move from Orijen to RC doh.gif
Guess that makes sense now.

I give her kibbles on a daily basis, but once every alternate day she gets 1 serving of boiled/ steamed fish or chicken.

My male cat neutered today but they don't have e-collar. We will need to monitor him regularly. It will be a long 14 days.

That's good to know. He already awake now & responding when I call him but still not fully awake. I'm planning to put him in the 3-storey cage tomorrow, when he fully awake. I don't want to separate him from his family. The other cats will be outside of the cage of course, only him in the cage.

My vet use simple stitches though like one stitch to close the outer incision. He told me the incision should be healed in 3 days. So, removing the stitch on male cats will be like removing stitches on female cats right? Either go to vet or do it ourselves right?

I feed my cats with Royal Canin one time. They actually good though but the one I get is Persian 30. The ingredient of Persian 30 is good last time I checked. The ones for regular cat is the ones that have "regular" ingredients. Unfortunately, it's too pricey for my 20 cats or so.
