1) Just wanna check... will step-up rates fd be affected by change in opr?
2) does citibank not offer promo fd? or just the lack of convenience due to limited branches?

QUOTE(adele123 @ May 19 2015, 11:55 AM) Have been with CB for years. No pure FD promo as far as I can recall. Only FD/UT bundle as far as I know. Have gone into some of them only. CB more interested to promote UT products. Have the most RM in Penang chasing PB customers to review portfolio to buy /switch UT products ! QUOTE(adele123 @ May 19 2015, 11:55 AM) 1) Just wanna check... will step-up rates fd be affected by change in opr? 1) yes, the next step up interest rate is not guaranteed to be as same. But current running rate is fixed. 2) does citibank not offer promo fd? or just the lack of convenience due to limited branches? 2) They seldom have FD promotion, only once or twice over the many years, but when they did, the rate was quite attractive. Their banking focus seems like not FD/deposit base area but more on credit card, housing loan or investment type of product |

QUOTE(bbgoat @ May 18 2015, 05:25 PM) Yes, looks like same structure except today it is a stock, Las Vegas Sands Corp stock price. Auto call back at 105% of initial price. Looks even more volatile than the Callable Klibor that I bought from CIMB. Previous one lasted 1 year plus then called back by CIMB. Current one >2 years, not yet call back. Getting I think 5.x% (need to check document) interest. the callable klibor is 100% principal protection if held to maturity right ? sounds quite decent |

QUOTE(aeiou228 @ May 19 2015, 12:03 PM) Malaysian Islamic Banking has applied a new rule recently, making the Mudharabah accounts into real investment accounts, means that they are neither profit nor capital guaranteed under the new rules. But, the banks *promise* to invest your fund with minimum risk, generating higher profit than principal accounts |

QUOTE(dEviLs @ May 19 2015, 04:43 PM) Yes, principal protected if held until maturity. But 10 years is too long. If the interest rate turns against me, then no interest to be paid. That could be for 7 or 8 years (remaining years until maturity) ! CIMB will only call back if they deem to be un-profitable for them to continue ! |

QUOTE(culain99 @ May 20 2015, 12:15 PM) OK, I try next month, Call them few days before maturity. Depending on the amt, may need few levels of approval right up to their HQ. That was my experience with them. BM, division mgr then all the way to HQ. 1st year - negotiated 2nd year - too busy, missed - auto renew on standard rate 3rd/this year - set reminder - try to negotiate This post has been edited by bbgoat: May 20 2015, 12:22 PM |
