Update on UOB FD.
Didn't get a flyer this time. The Personal Banker at UOB main branch told me 4.2% p.a. 1 year FD extended till 31st March 2015.

QUOTE(earlgrey77 @ Mar 21 2015, 02:12 AM) Hi new to FD , is there any calculation as to whether the interest rate is worth ? sorry i read the first page and still abit confused. worth what? the higher the better? some banks advertise quite straight forward or put it as straight-forward. 4.2% p.a. for one year that's it. some banks (example pbb) 4.08% first 6 months, 4.28% next 6 months. now if you look at the advert it says... QUOTE effective campaign rate for 12-month place is 4.18%p.a. obviously choose 4.2%. calculation not necessary Just need to look at fine prints, etc.

QUOTE(nexona88 @ Mar 22 2015, 01:54 PM) go place your FD faster before BNM reduce the OPR rate in the next meeting this is probably not likely to happen...

Question: step up (example rhb) vs rollover (pbb)... Are they the same?
My understanding rollover will subject to changes in opr but not step up...
Edit: This is abit late but maybank 3-month fd... 1st and 2nd month 3.55%, 3rd month 4.55%. Effective 3.88%.
Min25k for individual... 50k for sme/business banking acct.
Ends 12th april.

1) Just wanna check... will step-up rates fd be affected by change in opr?
2) does citibank not offer promo fd? or just the lack of convenience due to limited branches?
