Bro, thank you, I did state SCB 4.5% for 12 months in my blog sub-title but the image posted did state 4.5% for 15 months, haha. That SCB Saadiq promo suppose to run until end April, but like bbgoat said, not sure if offer still valid today so I have removed it from my blog.

Hi all seniors here, I'm new here, I have some doubts regarding the HSBC bank's 5% 3 month time deposit

how to calculate this? like say i put the money in for 3 months, then uplift it after maturity date (3 months), how much interest do i get? since interest rate written is 5% per annum, doesnt it means need 12 months?

if say for example i put rm10,000 for 3 months and uplift it after 3 months
would i get interest rate of 10000x5%=rm500? or would it be lower?

another question is that, is it worth the hassle, or should I just deposit into SCB 4.25% 9 months?

and I would also like to know whether bank FD rates changes? does it affect people who had locked in their respective FD's? (meaning after i subscribed to 12 months FD @ 4% pa, would i be affected on lets say 2016 or 2017 if that time FD rates drop to like 3%pa? or would my rate still remain at 4%pa?

sorry for asking so many questions, I'm new at all these sad.gif

thanks in advance! smile.gif

1. for the HSBC advance, you will get 5%x 3/12, which you will get around RM125 for every 10k u deposit,at maturity.
2. i will prefer SCB 4.5 for 15 months, which u will end up with rm562 for every 10k u deposit, at maturity.
3. Regardless of rates changing, the banks have to stick with the rate printed on the slip throughout the tenure, else you can complain them at bank Negara.

You are welcome in advance

but i heard many ppl say unit trust very risky, and that many ppl lose money in unit trust (with exception of the ASB,ASW,ASN,ASG etc etc those)

and how to calculated compounded interest based on 15 month period wor? lets say if i put 20k for 4 years @ 4.5%pa, then how much i get at the end of 4 years?

New to lowyat here. Has anybody have any experience with Affin Bank Fixed Deposit Plus where they peg your interest rate to KLIBOR (the rate bank lend to each other??)?

http://www.affinbank.com.my/Consumer-Banki...FFINFDPLUS.aspx

The current KLIBOR rate for 12 months is 3.93%

http://asianbondsonline.adb.org/malaysia/d..._interest_rates

Seems attractive to me since I want FD rate that is consistently higher without going through hassle of musical chairs between banks when there is competition for deposits or putting precious money in banks without PIDM.

The strange thing about this product is that there is a floor, the interest rate pegged to KLIBOR will not be lower than for Affin's conventional fixed deposit.

Unless there is a catch, you will always come out ahead of conventional fixed deposit (unless there is promotion rate).

My gut instinct tells me that there is no such thing as a free lunch and there must be some gotcha clause lurking in the background (like JAWS).

Much appreciation to anybody who can enlighten me on this.

Anyone here keeps a copy of the terms for the SCB FD promo stating that the interest will be credited to our nominated CASA on every 6th month?

add: found the terms but no mention of the 6 months thingy...only verbally informed by the officer then
