I faced some difficulties in overclocking my system.

After reading through quite a lot of guides on OCing. I have a pretty good idea of how OC is done.

First, I lowered my CPU multiplier to x5, ram to DDR400 with the highest timing (thus more HTT headroom)

The problem is, the HTT just can't get through 250?

Should I raise the voltage? And what is the safe voltage range for my processor?

Don't mind about the temp., I've got a Arctic Cooling fan.

dont forget to lower a bit ur HT myltiplier. maybe try to set it to 3. then try setting ur cpu multiplier form 8-10. try diff combination of HT multiplier, CPU divider, Ram timings and Cpu multiplier. try to increase ur Vdimm and Vcore when the system fail to reboot...

what is the operational value of ur rams??at default??maybe 2.1V is the max to ensure the rams not overheating.... smile.gif

edit: i just help my friend to oc his rig which is same as urs, only diff in PSU and Ram. manage to get 2.5Ghz with HT multiplier=4, CPU multiplier=10, Vcore=1.45V, Vdimm=2.1V stable. As he is using noctua heatsink, maybe can get higher oc when increase the Vcore with no worry to heat prob.. icon_idea.gif

i think you can do better than your current setting.
As you said previously, your rams are XMS2 right? im sure it would perform better, my corsair value select is able to run @ 380mhz with exact timing as yours @ 2.1 vdimm.

And i would also suggest to increase your HT to 4, 750 is a very small bandwidth, quite alot of performance is sacrificed with 7xx HT frequency. With your current fsb, 250Mhzx4 is 1000mhz, which is the perfect spot for your HT link.

The most stable settings anything more the windows restart.
AM2 4000+ @2940 Mhz
HSF : Stock AMD
Biostar T690G mobo
Patriot DDR2 800
Cpu Vcore +0.025
Vdimm 2.15V
HT LINK :840
memory frequency :367
Temp : 40C (Idle) ~ 50C (Full load)
currently priming with blend test

Tried at 10x multiplier but stable @2900mhz anthing more unstable

Never meddle with DRAM settings @auto

Im so damn interested in overclocking that i just bought Biostar TA690G mobo. But the thing is i dunno how to overclock my rig properly. Im soo noob dat i only use the mobo overclocking software and not using the bios. Now because of my stupidity and clueless im not satisfied at all with my rig. The software is like crap bcoz suddenly if i increase the CPU frequency it crushes the system.

My question is, and im aiming this thread for those who are using Biostar TA690G mobo, so that u guys please tell me how the heck do i undo all the overclocking thing i had done using the software(coz everytime u push the undo button the system will crush and nothing is undone!!)

The second thing is, wud u guys here help me on how to overclock my rig using bios and how do i get the best out of my rig.

My humble rig is:
Athlon64 3000+
1 Gb Kingston DDR2 667
Xigmatek S963 Cooler
Biostar TA690G

PLease sumone help me on this. Im desperate.. huhu..

raise timing not lower it .
CAS/TCL - TRCD - TRP - TRAS
this one you have to read more from DDR2 discussion thread .

make sure you do some homework (google or RAM handbook : http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/239532 ) first .
