Hi everyone,

I'm looking for a tortoise for my backyard. Something really really huge and friendly and don't require much attention. Any suggestions and where can I buy it?

are you looking for something which is already huge?
or you want something small then grow huge

2 huge tortoise easily available is sulcata and leopard
both 3rd and 4th largest tortoise in the world

e.g. of how big sulcata can grow
My 6 years old Sulcata
*somebody's sulcata

there's a few shops with leopard and sulcata
sulcata = 88 subang + cheras
leopard = 88 pju + irene

I think I rather see how it grows up which would be pretty cool. So leopard or sulcata eh? Only 88 dollars for a baby one? How long does it take to grow to that size? 6 years?! Darn, if that's the case, on second thought, maybe I rather get one which is semi-huge already.

yes, it is more fun to see them from small to big

the $88 one is most likely star... it won't grow tat huge

baby sulcata and leopard price range is around RM450 to RM550 each

that guy said 6 years can grow that big... i m also curious what he is feeding em. not suppose to be that huge

Another option is Burmese Mountain Tortoise. RM550 for adult which is around 10kg, and RM500 for juveniles. Location - Ikano Pets Safari.

Hi all...went to Irene Aquarium this afternoon. Saw some nice turtles wink.gif Hatchling Common Musk and Razorback Musk and one more not sure what species...got yellow dots on its face and black in coulour on over its body.

Also saw hachtling Snapping turtle but not sure what type, as in Ally or Common. They have Star tortoise, Leopard, and Radiated but no price tag...the best is i saw what eujax and uzairi was saying about, the Black Breasted Leaf! Very beautiful turtles! Like it a lot BUT the boss is not very kind...dont really let me see the turtle as in tak mau ambil keluar. Its RM98 no discount but lower than what Uzairi's friend offer laa..and RM98 is not too bad for my budget...but if buy also can only afford seekor! blush.gif

Eujax, did he give you discount? Uzairi, have you bought yours? And is this species easy to take care? Takut beli nanti and dont know how to take care susah laa... unsure.gif Please give some advice. Thanks you thanks you.

seems like got lots of turts and torts in Irene... worth going for a peep... hehe... when free will drop by... will update in here if i do go...

de snapping turtle as someone had been there said it was RM160 (if i can recall) shud be a common snapping turtle... if it was an ally turtle... i'm sure they will hike de price up even more coz' it's getting more harder to find (hatchling) d... btw, they haf alot of de hatchling snapping turtles??

uzairi... quick2 mate ur snapper lar... sell me de hatchling! hahaaa!!

anyone been to de zoo lately? anything worth seeing ar there? got lots of turtles and tortoises around?? all the asian species??

besides turtles and tortoises... anything which is special? i haven't been to the national zoo for a way long time liow... i think since primary school till now... i think now shud be more modernise and nicer kuar...

Do these toitoise require much attention and time? They will be pretty okay if I just leave them at my garden right with a food and drink bowl?

if u just put it at ur back garden alone... u might haf to be worry of predators around if ur tortoises u got are still hatchling or juvenile...

in here we just had an unwanted incident by UPMParasite... his tortoises being bitten by a stray dog... poor thing... hmm... not just dogs... scared tat crows or other kinds of birds come attacking ur tortoises... if it's an adult tortoise than it shudn't be a problem lar i would say...
