Wah, apparently for new gen model that put in cheaper , lower grade panel
I've noticed that in other gaming laptops as well. I stayed away from the Asus 551 and 552 this round because of what I thought were sub-par displays. The Gigabyte gaming laptop has a nice IPS screen, and Skylake.
As for MSI, you'll have to look at the actual screens carefully.
Very strange... My GP62 Leopard Pro (Haswell), is a wide-gamut RGB screen (the mysterious CMN15x screen ("CMN15D2"))... rare in consumer LCD screens, let alone laptops.
Pros: The colours are unbelievably good. Viewing angle is good. Everything looks awesome in "bright scenes" or scenes which are predominantly "bright" eg. "daytime" in a game.
Cons: The black levels (due to backlight "bleed") is really quite bad. Very noticeable in "dark scenes". This is probably a dealbreaker for most people, so be sure to
CHECK THIS AT THE MSI SHOP for the laptop you're interested in.
Anyway, for various reasons I am keeping my laptop and still like it. One of the reasons is it was a trade that needed to be made quite quickly so I'll have to #dealwithit
