Yea still much undecided......better viewing angle vs better rgb range or better cooling vs better build quality.
So much headache....
*
After compared between better viewing angle from my old ips monitor vs the better rgb range from my PE70. i choose rgb range as its give me the color accuracy that i need where my ips panel lack of. (may be not the highend IPS panel).
Cooling is another big factor to consider and i like the cooler booster as it cool down my CPU and GPU pretty fast.
In terms of build quality, outlook wise seems very sturdy and my most important judgement is no squeaky plastic sound.

One thing though the form factor of the Y700... The CPU is most likely going to throttle a lot.

Be sure to check if your model can sustain X GHZ over hours of heavy CPU and GPU use.

MSI Cooler Boost at maximum can be noisy but helps a lot with keeping temperatures manageable, reducing the possibility of throttling without having some super massive heat sink and cooler.

Be aware too that laptops do not always have Turbo Boost to the two or four core GHZ maximum all the time, that's why Turbo Boost speeds are not guaranteed, only the rated speed.

But yeah in the RM 4 to 5 thousand range currently one has to weigh the compromises. Nonetheless the Maxwell Nvidia and Intel Skylake with M2 SSD and DDR4 RAM... this is some really good tech.

Echo on the good tech is the m.2 PCIE gen 3 x 4(NVMe) ssd slot. Imagine read speed of 2200MB/s with single ssd. Im waiting to upgrade to Samsung 950 pro m.2 2280 256G SSD when it is available in Malaysia soon.
Anyone tested it?? mind to share your thought?

Rather wait for the samsung since about the same price as the plextor
*
samsung 950 only come in 256G and above. no 128G.... so no choice but to take Plextor if not going for 256G.
My target is 256G... so wait for samsung ...

Edit: I made some wrong graphics about the color gamut of GP62 Leopard Pro (Haswell). Will post corrected ones here shortly.

This is the screen color gamut (in wireframe) compared to SRGB (in solid). The screen has MORE colours than SRGB.

I bought a Spyder4Pro a while back and Praise God it's still going strong. Honestly, I cannot imagine using any laptop without calibrating it with a Spyder or equivalent. The difference is massive. blush.gif

How many GB of ram does your model have? Shouldn't require more than 8GB of ram. Try uninstalling all unnecessary softwares and bloatware.

I got an Adata 256GB. Very happy with it. I don't see how I would need anything faster. And to share, I also got Adata 16GB RAM. Also very happy with it.

Hi, it is definitely the HDD. An SSD even with 4GB of RAM will make a huge difference. Also antivirus and other software as the other poster mentioned makes a big difference. I removed all antivirus software, just using a firewall, VPN from time-to-time, and running the Trend Micro Housecall portable scanner from time-to-time. Avast, Trend, etc. running all the time, I just didn't like the system resources it was using.

I do suggest save up for the SSD first, that is more important than RAM unless you have specific RAM-heavy applications. Right now if you look at your HDD light on the laptop you will probably see it constantly flashing, ie. Windows 10, MS Office, Web browsing etc. IMO is usually all very hard disk intensive not really RAM intensive.

MSI SCREEN QUALITY MYSTERY SOLVED?
It says "IPS Level Panel" <-- This means IPS panel is NOT guaranteed?

"15.6" Full HD (1920 x 1080), Wide-viewing angle, IPS level panel "

In the specifications it says IPS-quality not guaranteeing IPS. This could explain why one may not get an IPS panel per se: http://my.msi.com/product/notebook/GE62-6Q...o-specification
