QUOTE(shin2l @ Oct 11 2014, 01:35 PM) Price for new GS60/70 and GT72 with GTX970M and GTX980M is insane, gaming laptops become more expensive. Luckily I bought earlier, if I were to buy now, I would go for Alienware and Illegear which provide better after sales service. It's the jump from the 7xx to 8xx/9xx. The prices went crazy for no apparent good reason apart from "Let's see how much these suckers are willing to pay". It's industry-wide for laptops, so it's probably nVidia jacking up prices since AMD's so far behind in notebook graphics right now. What that means is that you will see similar price jumps of about RM 1k no matter what the brand.

Next year when GST comes, I guess the price becomes more expensive QUOTE(koopa @ Oct 11 2014, 07:50 PM) I agree with you on the Alienware. Once my laptop broke on Thursday, i gave them a call and the next day ,Friday, they came and changed the whole motherboard no question asked. Just the initial problem which was unable to start with beeping sound at the beginning. They actually replaced it with a refurbished motherboard I hope MSI will be like this in the near future. They are still new in Malaysia and still establishing themselves. Other than the service, I would stick to MSI. 2 weeks is too long. Sony takes 2-4 weeks for their laptop repairs too. This year Sony stops their laptop business. MSI if want to advance its gaming laptops business, it should take a serious account of after sales service. Perhaps MSI can refer to how Lenovo and DELL offer warranty service upgrade for high-end product line. Afterall, I guess no one will pay RM7xxx for such laptops without any decent warranty service.

QUOTE(shin2l @ Oct 12 2014, 10:46 PM) Next year when GST comes, I guess the price becomes more expensive Aha! A good excuse to upgrade now! All seriousness, though, yeah, prices will go up. Don't think tech is on the zero GST list, and tech usually has VAT/GST applied to it overseas too. That's not even taking into account unscrupulous sellers who will use the GST as an excuse to increase prices anyway under the excuse of "covering nthe tax charge". Sheeeeeee-it.

GE60 2PE CPU... 1 month old. Idle temperature 51-56C... Is this normal, or does it matters? Previously I always get 45-50C only...
