I will choose the gl703 g simply because of the build quality,

For the display size, its really depends on u, if look for more portable, surely 15 inch

I have this GL62 for a little over 6 months now. Mostly been using this to work and hardly any games unless I'm travelling. Among some problems like sound and screen clarity...I'm having some very annoying issue with heat (despite picking this laptop for its extra fans) around the left palm area. This photo attached is how hot it gets while working on documents in an air-conditioned room - your palm sweats so much it looks like you just came out of the sauna.

Does anyone else using the GL62 model have this same issue? And has anyone found a solution for this heat problem?

Wait I thought we are allowed to do our own upgrades as long we don't damage mobo/gpu/cpu... At least that what acer told me. I haven't heard back from msi...

I wanted to ask/confirm

GP63 8RE model has 2 pcie m.2 slots right. Does this mean we can have 3 storage in this laptop?
*
From what I know, yes you cannot upgrade on your own due to their protocol, and do allow you guys upgrade on your own but it might cause problem. So the protocol is to protect your warranty and your laptop.

For the GP63 is actually have 2 slot SSD, but inside already have a 256gb M2 SSD, so you got extra 1 space

Both laptop spec is ok. But FYI Asus / ROG thermal control is so so / bad, and GE Raider have the overall quality

MSI GE62 2QF CPU Fan always fails...decided to change it on my own. The machine is also always overheat. After i apply the thermal paste it is back to normal. A Dota session the GPU temp never exceed 70C and hover around 60C. The MSI shop at digital mall dont wanna help me claim warranty for the Plextor m2 SSD. Ask me claim myself..so sad.. So i end up buy another m2 ssd.

Gladly, pls let me know how.
Unlike the guy below, I play Overwatch only so far on this laptop and its always around 76-78C in air-conditioned room. In non-aircond room, I tested and the temp reaches 82C.

Btw, this is my second machine - the first machine I had been provided 1 to 1 exchange for keyboard issue at the time of opening - even that laptop reached 80C when first turn on machine. Very odd.

BTW, cool DIY bruh. Can I ask your overheating issue is the SSD? I thought it was the HDD that is giving out heat problems.

Maybe due to the fibre glass chassis that would have water stain. My one is GP63 8RD LEOPARD, which is aluminium chassis not easily have water stain.

The over heating issue is due to 1. Faulty fan (replace 1 time before but broken again) 2. I am shocked to see the existing thermal paste is as good as no thermal paste..

The SSD has nothing to do with heat issue. Since i am opening it up and the SSD is cheap now, i am upgrading it to higher capacity.

Right now the CPU temp is always at 50 C and GPU is 47 C when i am not doing anything resource intensive.

Well its getting confusing. I checked with msi fb I told them I agreed to upgrade with local shop here already but its not authorize dealer at first they told me I can't after some discussion they said as long as I didn't touch the hardware and let technicians do can. I just called msi Cs hotline to confirm. I was told I am allowed to do upgrade at pc shop not DIY. Maybe its also due to I am not located in KL.
*
Yea, as long you don't touches the hardware and let the technician to do it, will be fine.

Actually, while you gaming, temperature at 65-85 (not until 90) is consider relatively normal. still depending on the setting of the graphic of your game and such. But as far as i know about MSI, where i also tested them on my little review of the MSI laptop i bought, never have overheating issue (where it reaches 90 and above).

my problem is not the GPU but whatever's on the left side of the trackpad sweat.gif
it heats up every single time, no matter what you do.
