*
Intel not yet have any official announcement on the 8th Gen yet, so i don't think MSI or nay other brand have it yet. I think soon =w=

Wait I thought we are allowed to do our own upgrades as long we don't damage mobo/gpu/cpu... At least that what acer told me. I haven't heard back from msi...

I wanted to ask/confirm

GP63 8RE model has 2 pcie m.2 slots right. Does this mean we can have 3 storage in this laptop?
*
From what I know, yes you cannot upgrade on your own due to their protocol, and do allow you guys upgrade on your own but it might cause problem. So the protocol is to protect your warranty and your laptop.

For the GP63 is actually have 2 slot SSD, but inside already have a 256gb M2 SSD, so you got extra 1 space

Thanks for your suggestion, btw what monitor should I get for my main gaming monitor? Budget 500-600.
*
Both laptop spec is ok. But FYI Asus / ROG thermal control is so so / bad, and GE Raider have the overall quality

I am not happy with msi GP63-8RE-299MY. Its poorly design. Even without undervolting at default it's showing yellow light for EDP OTHER. If you start using it like having MeMu (android emulator) it will blink red. Which means it's throttling due to current limit being exceeded.
*
Thats new, is there really such light indicator for such thing? but nevertheless, Memu and bluestock usually lag the computer unless you set it to run with graphic card processor instead the OpenGL

The warning is in Throttlestop app to undervolt the laptop. Usually blinking red means its throttling.
*
Weird, my office also using your exact model, although i did install bluestack instead Memu but without any problem. Did you manage to update all the drivers etc? Bios? And what is your temperature of the laptop when you open Memu,

and how many core you set the emulator to use?

this is annoying...one button on this keyboard has gone again. The "J" button is suddenly hard to press. This is the second keyboard issue I've experienced on MSI in less than 12 months! No wonder SteelSeries keyboards got bad reviews.

Anyone know how to DIY this? Might just be a spring or dust stuck under the keys. The service centre is just too far and I won't have a laptop to use for 2 weeks =.=
*
i guess there might something stuck underneath, i've been using my GE72 for 3 years and it happen to me once or twice where something stuck underneath the keyboard.

Thanks for replying , yeah i was quite surprised to hear about that price.
I posted it in a facebook group and didn't believe the value is so low considering i bought it at like RM2.9K before smile.gif
Must be right tho, think i'll try bargaining for RM800 first .

Yikes laptops do drop prices fast huh :FeelsBadMan;

These kind of gadget do not have much 2nd hand value, like phones , unless you sell it on the 1st week you bought.

Technologies gadget do not really have 2nd hand value

Quite low, even with good keeping condition, the machine cannot sell even 50% of original price. Strongly recommend you can directly buy a new one which have new warranty too.

MSI/Highpoint is greedy. They wanted rm4800 for repair of rm5600 laptop. Which now current price is rm5200 without any online discounts. I confirm its only the mobo dead. I will in future look at dell and others who include accidental damage protection.
*
Sound reasonable if you broke your motherboard, usually laptop motherboard are together with the GPU, once the motherboard is fried and you need to change everything which around the original price. well i can be quite sure other brand also will costing as nearly as that or much higher depending on what part of your laptop need to fix.

Checkout dell and lenovo warranty option.

Be sure to check the T&C, though they say it's cover in warranty but are very subjective cases.

Hello to all senpai/sifu  notworthy.gif
may i know which place have official cert to upgrade my gs65 ram + extra ssd?
what the price around for 8/16gb ram & 1tb ssd.
currently with SN720 500 gb ssd & single channel 16gb ram,
any recommendation for cheap and value ssd?
could tell me the price if anyone did it before also.

not for gaming purpose, mostly adobe & vegas pro job.

anyhow, my 6 sense also tell me not to upgrade...
wait another 3~4years straight upgrade.
but i will want to know the price for upgrade maybe 1day gatal go upgrade.
*
yo, wish to know is your GS65 still have warranty? if your warranty still valid, you need directly go to their shop or service center to have them upgrade / get the parts for you where they can help you test out the parts for compatibility. Price wise might be around RM900 (cheapest) with your criteria.

my MSI laptop 1 fan making noise, no more warranty, did send to laptop shop for checking

at first i suspect is dust block, but the laptop shop tell me is fan problem

can i just buy the fan from online, and change it by myself? around RM50 only, but i don't know how......

send back to service center will cost me few hundred
*
Better jsut go for service center and check, some shop worker scam for the money, i do happen once where nothing happen to the parts only some dust stuck and asked to change the whole thing. So it is better yo just visit the service center and have them check properly for you, and it is safer for people who do not know the know-how.
