QUOTE(zftrans @ Jan 24 2008, 06:38 PM) you will have to check with iem, but rmit is a reputable lower 1st tier uni and part of atn (http://www.atn.edu.au/), so it should be.....i would generally recommend a g8 (other than melb) or atn uni, you can't go wrong, and their fees are generally not significantly more than 2nd and 3rd tier unis........ QUOTE(tam_ironcup @ Jan 24 2008, 07:26 PM) i saw the list of g8 universities, what i really wanna know is if the uni i go to would affect getting a job? and also, how hard/easy would it be a for a fresh engineering grad to get a job in australia itself? if you are graduating now in engineering, you have a almost 100% chance of getting a job in oz.........they are very short of engineers, with the booming economy and commodities market.......if you are entering uni now, when you graduate in 4-5 years time, it is difficult to predict........the economy could be in recession, and the cohort of graduating engineers will be more, as most unis have increased their engineering intake last and this year.........note that in the late 80's there was a slump, and many engineers were out of jobs in oz........ where you graduate from may have a small part to play in whether you get to be called for an interview or not......but once you have a job, and for your subsequent jobs, it's you work performance that will determine your future....you paper qualification becomes irrelevant....... if you intend to return to malaysia, you may want to ascertain if the qualification is recognised by iem (and jpa, if you want to work for the gov) or not......... |

QUOTE(tam_ironcup @ Jan 24 2008, 08:15 PM) to get a masters in engineering takes 4 yrs or 5 yrs? when i went to the malaysian institute of engineers to ask some questions, the lady there mentioned that 4 yrs would be me graduating with an m.eng, which isnt masters, and that i;d have to do another year to get my masters. A standard undergraduate Engineering program in Australia is 4 years.can someone explain this to me please. This post has been edited by chris_c28: Jan 24 2008, 08:27 PM |

Hey guys i'm just wondering, for those who took engineering, i knew that in the math exam you're not allowed to use the calculator(correct me if i'm wrong) but for other subjects that requires calculation you can use a calculator, i would like to know do i have to buy a new scientific calculator or the one that i have now which is a Casio scientific calculator model fx-570MS (i bought this in 2004) is good enough for me to go through the exam.

The maths subjects I've done all allow calculators in the exams, but they are provided by the university since we can't bring our own calculators for finals. They are Casio FX-570s. Other unis may have different regulations, so check the university's respective guidelines. This post has been edited by chris_c28: Jan 24 2008, 09:04 PM |
