40 kg ? I fly SQ as well and they told me officially in an email that I get 30kg .... so there exists three possibilities here :
1. its the official 30kg + close eye 10kg... which happens quite often if u go to the airport early enuf ..
2. u're travelling business class
3. the check in counter fella is ur relative or friend.

so which is it?
*
if i go n check in early....
most probably... can go in with 10kg extra ar???
hahaha.....
how if i reli bring more than 30kg..

when u go in early, try to choose the counter tat has the least ppl on it and the friendliest looking attendant... best if ur the first in line ... usually they just wanna get the line going and since its early they hv plenty of "spare weight" . hvnt tried 10kg b4 but i had friends who managed to get past 38.5 and 39.5kg past SQ counters by going really early..

i stayed at college square before. no u cant get ur own ISP . unless u get Unwired (wireless broadband ) <- expensive
the internet at college square is downright horrendous. everytime people complained, they made it worse.

to sum it up college square internet
1. SLOW like max speed download is 30kb/s
2. always auto logout from ur internet
3. frigging expensive compared to external ISP
4. shit service

actually one of the reasons why i moved out of college square end of last year
but hey if u can look past the internet service , college square is actually a really decent place to stay.
for now lygon >> swanston in terms of facilities. + its cheaper too.

Thanks. I guess it help to save a lot. By the way, how can i check the condition of those book??
*
Ppl usually state the condition when they advertise their books for sale. If it's not what you want, you can always decline.
Most books are in good condition because they are only used for a session or less.

UQ is a nice university. I can't say about the Bachelor of Commerce course in UQ, but overall UQ is a nice university. Great lakes, gardens etc and all. Facilities wise its also very good, and to be honest, I can't find much fault with UQ.

International house (http://www.internationalhouse.uq.edu.au/) is a great place to stay there. It really opens your eyes. I strongly recommend 1st time, 1st year students at least try to find university managed accomodation. Trying to fight with the Brisbane rental market will be murder. At least stay there for 6 moths, get used to the place and environment, and after sem 1 you might consider moving out.

At this late stage through, I'm not sure if there are still any places in the residential colleges. You better start making arrangements quickly. http://www.accommodation.uq.edu.au/ is a good place to start.

Good luck and welcome to Brisbane!

On another note, okay, okay, 7GB is not enough for CS students. So I do spend too much time in the library.

Thats the reality of studying overseas, really. Even the KCH-SIN tickets aren't that great these days. Can't wait for AK to do the KCH-SIN sector.

Time to get from Senai to the causeway; 2 hrs
Time to get from Kranji to City hall: 40mins
Time from City hall to Tanah Merah:25 mins
Tanah Merah to Changi: 5 mins
Time to wait in Changi because my flight is at night and I have to take the 7am flight so that I don't miss my flight: about 8 hrs

And how much do I save? Frankly, I'd pay the extra. I can earn more money, but all the money in the world cant buy a second of extra time.

Go figure. AirAsia wants to fly to Singapore, the kiasu Singaporeans say no. Tiger wants to do the SIN-KCh sector, Sarawak says yes, the Federal gov says no. So if it isnt the Malayans leeching off us, its the Singaporeans forsaking us. Either way, we loose. What the hell did we give Singapore Wee Kheng Chiang for?!

Buying stationary in Malaysia will be cheaper, as the exchange rate does affect the prices. A 200 page exercise book goes for about A$1.20. However, don't end up with the "bring 4 packs of double A paper" syndrome!
