upgrading from 8.1 to 10 was failed in windows update. i then reboot the laptop and now it stays on blank screen. gosh

my $Windows.~BT 6.55gb since last night, but I haven't receive the upgrade notification.
Can I manually Upgrade it?

Just got my Windows 10 download.. Downloading now and updating my Surface soon.

windows 10's driver is same as windows 8.1?

unofficially, you can grab a copy of leaked w10 rtm iso from the internet and use it to do a clean install.

You need to fully activated your existing windows 7 or 8 license. Then use the iso to do an upgrade first and just skip the step to key in serial. After the successful upgrade, your computer will connect to internet and auto activate your windows 10. After the activation is successful, if you want to clean installation, use the reset function to wipe your computer clean.

That's what i understand from various sources from Google, correct me if I am wrong.

p.s. No, all your previous Windows key cannot be used for Windows 10 activation.

No. Free upgrade works this way: a working and legit windows running on the computer you wanna do upgrade, make sure it's connected to internet. Download iso, make a bootable usb or dvd and use it to do offline upgrade. After upgrade, connect the computer to internet and make sure w10 is activated.

Now you can wipe the disk, and use the same usb stick/dvd to do clean install without key (skip all sections that ask for key). After completed, connect to internet and your w10 will be activated.

I just did that.

you can, like what horns said. But you need to do upgrade once first and activate Windows 10. Then only do a fresh installation from the USB key.

First of all thanks for the info, actually i have done my Windows 8.1pro update & mange to submit the reservation for Windows 10, i also had received email from MS for the reservation confirmation. However after that process i'm changing my hardware (GPU & adding a sound card) & format my pc, i did the fresh installation of he Windows again, i have done all the Windows update again now the small windows upgrade logo (GWX) didn't appeared anymore, my C: drive also don't have downloaded Windows 10 file folder , not sure it is related to the new hardware?
