played with w10 tech preview for a bit just now (with w8.1 pro's built-in virtualization feature on asus.g55). everything works fine.

now i realized that i am not really fond of start button. by default it will boot straight to desktop mode. in the taskbar properties there is an option to show start screen first.

for now.. only one: the command prompt. after so many years they decided to give it some missing 'features'.

the multiple desktops can be called out with win+tab. however for switching between desktops i cannot use arrow keys yet. (must point and click with mouse :/)

I think it's still early to say anything.

got the leaked build 9888. will get it running in a while.

edit: tada.. posting via w10.tp.9888 in vm. so far all drivers from w8.1 are still working without issues. however i tried but couldn't install dotnet framework 3.5.

MS started to make minor changes, but not really important yet.

the thing that works is to enable features offline with the command, Dism /online /enable-feature /featurename:NetFx3 /All /Source:<installer.drive.letter>:\sources\sxs /LimitAccess with windows 10 install media. (source: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2734782)

4.5.2 couldn't be installed because w10 has 4.6 preview. 3.5.sp1 offline installer did not work also because it will direct you to the windows features dialogue.

edit: this time i screwed the boot menu up (went into a blank screen after selecting to boot into w10.tp), used bcdedit /enum all to check and found out duplicate entries. removed them all and recreated a new entry solved the boot issue.

yes. cosmetic changes have started, starting from OOBE. (plain white background; very bright) everything is getting simpler looks.

edit: windows updates was merged with settings.

as always, thanks a lot for the links biggrin.gif

everything is fine here. (fresh install) this time we have more ui adjustments. now the windows updates seemed working well (more informative than 9901. i'm not even sure if there were updates installed previously). keylogging services were removed from the system?

oooh. sadly mine is come wit Windows 7, so i just try with virtual box first, will wait for next year release then upgrade.

After asking around, gonna delete my recovery partition, and re-install fresh instead and build up from there then make a acronis back up biggrin.gif
*
well you should grab the w8 pro upgrade for MYR 50.00 when it was offered. from there I upgraded to w8.1 pro for free.

haha I never had a chance to use that recovery partition. I have stock recovery image created, but never used it also.

for recovery system images, I always use windows built-in system image tool. I do a fresh install first, install drivers, then make a clean full system image (using wbadmin via powershell). after that, I install software and do windows updates. I always make a new system image whenever I make significant changes to the system. this way, you save a lot of time starting over from scratch. it's very handy smile.gif

back to the w10 topic, dot net 3.5 installed fine this time. finally I can run steelseries engine 2.0 properly biggrin.gif

like w8.x, 3.5 in w10 is not enabled by default. I tested previous tech previews by installing the feature via programs and features but failed. maybe by that time the website for serving w10-specific updates was not ready yet.

now everything is working smile.gif

Most likely he updated it from Win 7 to Win 10, which is what I did on my laptop (seamless). So far, no driver problems although some apps are "buggy".

this makes sense. for some unknown reasons, the upgrades will screw something in the process. if you have the install media, it's better just do a clean install.

alternatively, just create and use virtual machines for testing purposes. it's much more convenient and flexible.

Ya,as the other said, i upgrade from window 7 to window 10 technical preview, but seem last night i try many time still can't online then i make it back to window 7, lol hmm.gif
*
ok haha

for some windows upgrade from 7 to 8 is fine. for others, it have issues now and then. previously this was the official way for people to upgrade (install 7 then upgrade to 8), before MS decided to give us the install media. if you wanna have something that are close to trouble-free, it's better to do a fresh install smile.gif

the better option is still to run it as virtual machine. note that there is a keylogging feature in w10 tech previews. you don't wanna run it for production.

build 10036 was leaked.

Attached Image

the geforce driver 349.65 was said to create all sorts of issues. however it's not in my case in 9926 and 10036. as i am using mpc-hc as my default player, i found no issues playing videos as per complaints.
