we know what you want.    but to have a working activation for Windows 10, you need to follow what me and horns suggest.

1.  Do upgrade from existing activated Win7 or 8.
2.  Make sure the upgrade Windows 10 is activated.
3.  Do a clean install (wipe clean clean your SSD in the process) for Windows 10 again.
4.  Your Windows 10 should be auto activated now.

If you are using Pro version, it will remain Pro version, same for Home version.

Yes, it will prompt you for product key but if you are upgrading from an activated windows, you can just skip the product key section.  After the successful installation, it will auto activate your new Windows 10.

The version will be the same as your current windows 8.1 - Pro will get Pro back and Home will get Home (info from one the Microsoft technical blog but i myself not tested it yet).

my laptops have keys embedded in mobo also. i didn't use them because i need a different version of windows for work.

the free upgrade offer is not about product key. it's about having a legit windows running on your computer, and it's connected to internet.

before upgrade, it's better to turn av off to avoid issues. i'm not sure if the upgrade will remove av, because i used a plain w8.1 to upgrade.

it's better to change all hardware, activate windows, then perform upgrade.
don't bother waiting. just download the iso from the above official links and do offline upgrade.
since now we can download iso, you can do:
1) have an activated windows 8.1 / 7 PC (connected to internet)
2) download iso and make bootable usb stick then use that to do offline upgrade (after finished, connect to internet and make sure new w10 is activated!)
3) after upgrade, do CLEAN INSTALL using the same bootable usb, which means WIPE/FORMAT the HDD
4) Skip the product key
5) Finish install and check the product activation (connected to internet)

Oh Crap..
I'm doing clean install without upgrading and now it not activated.. =(

Need to reinstall win 8.1 back and upgrade from there before clean install.. sigh..

Or anyone here have and idea to activate it?

hi guys. i'm having problem getting the Windows 10 upgrade icon for my PC.

i'm currently running Windows 7 SP1 64 bit (OEM the one tied to only one PC per copy) for quite some time and trying to get the Windows 10 icon but seems that it never appear till today although i've updated everything and there's nothing more to update in windows update.

tried all the fix from the internet (the win10fix_full.bat file, using MediaCreationToolx64 for Windows 10) but still failed to get the update till today.

how can i update mine if this happens?

Windows 10 uses a different activation mechanism. During the initial upgrade via Windows Update it scans your hardware and submits your hardware profile to a Microsoft Product Activation server. During Reinstallation it rescans your hardware and submits the profile to the activation server. If it finds a match then your product is reactivated. You won't get a key, keys are effectively being phased out as a thing of the past.

Argh, I used the download tool and I think it finished... (I was away) but when come back to check an error saying something had stopped working and no ISO can be found on my harddisk =( I restarting the damn download tool now, hopefully not get another freaking error when I woke up later morning =(

OK I'm seriously pissed off, happened TWICE...

Then try again on PHONE (Andoird / Apple whatever), that link actually works and you can grab ISO links!
The only problem is, there is no option for Home or Pro... So I'm currently unsure if the ISO contain Pro.

Just W.T.F...

omg.. before i download another iso to burn.. i have 60 over GB at my c drive. suddenly all space gone after download finish.. what is happening ? lol..

once i downloaded the ISO file and burn it to DVD means it is a bootable dvd already?
