QUOTE(Cynox @ Jul 29 2015, 04:20 PM) we know what you want. Bro, so the process doesn't require keying any Product key at all ?1. Do upgrade from existing activated Win7 or 8. 2. Make sure the upgrade Windows 10 is activated. 3. Do a clean install (wipe clean clean your SSD in the process) for Windows 10 again. 4. Your Windows 10 should be auto activated now. If you are using Pro version, it will remain Pro version, same for Home version. Because what I know is some desktop pre-installed with Windows 8.1 right now, those product key embedded in their motherboard. So when you install the windows, it will detect the motherboard hence, the windows will get activated once finish install. That's what happen to my current desktop. But my laptop, I normally need to key windows 8.1 key whenever I finish install windows 8.1 |

QUOTE(Cynox @ Jul 29 2015, 04:35 PM) Yes, it will prompt you for product key but if you are upgrading from an activated windows, you can just skip the product key section. After the successful installation, it will auto activate your new Windows 10. So there is a button for skip this round eh?The version will be the same as your current windows 8.1 - Pro will get Pro back and Home will get Home (info from one the Microsoft technical blog but i myself not tested it yet). Windows 8.1 doesn't have so normally i need to use generic key to bypass |

QUOTE(horns @ Jul 29 2015, 04:38 PM) no need. confirmed. my laptops have keys embedded in mobo also. i didn't use them because i need a different version of windows for work. the free upgrade offer is not about product key. it's about having a legit windows running on your computer, and it's connected to internet. QUOTE(Cynox @ Jul 29 2015, 04:39 PM) Cause my laptop previously is Windows 7 which doesn't have the key embedded in motherboard.Ok, so conclusion is: 1) Have an activated windows 8.1 / 7 PC 2) Upgrade using the "Get Windows 10 upgrade" icon beside the Task Bar <<---- Or use the ISO also can? 3) After upgrade, use the download ISO (put into USB / burn into DVD) to do CLEAN INSTALL which means WIPE/FORMAT the HDD 4) Skip the product key 5) Finish install and check the product activation Is it like this? QUOTE(horns @ Jul 29 2015, 06:21 PM) before upgrade, it's better to turn av off to avoid issues. i'm not sure if the upgrade will remove av, because i used a plain w8.1 to upgrade. Hmm... ok... I guess i will wait for a while before change to Win 10 Download the ISO first tonight. Oh, and what's the size of ISO ? |

QUOTE(horns @ Jul 29 2015, 05:09 PM) it's better to change all hardware, activate windows, then perform upgrade. One last question: don't bother waiting. just download the iso from the above official links and do offline upgrade. since now we can download iso, you can do: 1) have an activated windows 8.1 / 7 PC (connected to internet) 2) download iso and make bootable usb stick then use that to do offline upgrade (after finished, connect to internet and make sure new w10 is activated!) 3) after upgrade, do CLEAN INSTALL using the same bootable usb, which means WIPE/FORMAT the HDD 4) Skip the product key 5) Finish install and check the product activation (connected to internet) Do we actually need to press "reserve for Windows 10" before upgrade or can just straight upgrade using the disc eh? Cause I did not RESERVE Windows 10 until today since release. |

QUOTE(SHOfrE3zE @ Jul 29 2015, 07:13 PM) hi guys. i'm having problem getting the Windows 10 upgrade icon for my PC. Try this? http://www.windowscentral.com/windows-10-u...-trigger-updatei'm currently running Windows 7 SP1 64 bit (OEM the one tied to only one PC per copy) for quite some time and trying to get the Windows 10 icon but seems that it never appear till today although i've updated everything and there's nothing more to update in windows update. tried all the fix from the internet (the win10fix_full.bat file, using MediaCreationToolx64 for Windows 10) but still failed to get the update till today. how can i update mine if this happens? |

Here's some answer regarding on activation I believe:
QUOTE Windows 10 uses a different activation mechanism. During the initial upgrade via Windows Update it scans your hardware and submits your hardware profile to a Microsoft Product Activation server. During Reinstallation it rescans your hardware and submits the profile to the activation server. If it finds a match then your product is reactivated. You won't get a key, keys are effectively being phased out as a thing of the past. More info can refer here: Activation queries and answer! Bro stasio maybe can make it on front page. QUOTE(xonedl @ Jul 30 2015, 02:53 AM) OK I'm seriously pissed off, happened TWICE... Try open this link on PC - https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-do...ad/windows10ISO -> you got jumped to the TOOL download page. Then try again on PHONE (Andoird / Apple whatever), that link actually works and you can grab ISO links! The only problem is, there is no option for Home or Pro... So I'm currently unsure if the ISO contain Pro. Just W.T.F... Actually if you read carefully, it mentioned that the windows 10 can install both home and pro. It will detect if you choose upgrade. |
