So does that means i need to :
a) install windows 8.1, activate it with license key, then install windows 10 over it or
b) straight install windows 10 pro
but i don't know if the license key of 8.1 works on the Windows 10 installation boot-able disc on a new hdd...
Install windows 8.1,activate and upgrade is the usual way, however it leave Windows.old unless you do a cleanup. So usualy i would do this first then fresh install to avoid upgrade only problem.a) install windows 8.1, activate it with license key, then install windows 10 over it or

The key of 8.1 won't direct work on windows 10,they detect by hardware id now so if you had done upgrade one your motherboard will be able to active the first install after you connect to the internet.
