if you are installing it from the 'windows update' and you are getting errors. ignore it.
what you want to do is delete the files that the 'window update' installed on your computer.
then what you are going to want to do is visit this link;

you will not need any USB or DISC, what it does is basically installed windows 10 onto your computer but this time around its going to download the original files for windows 10 without having any issues or errors when you are trying to use it.
you do not need to enter a product code or a key code for any matter, what it does is that it uses your windows key that is on your computer already, so all that it will do is update your computer if you are on win 7 or 8.1 to win 10..
you will get two choices a CLEAN install or KEEP files..
clean install will just clean the hard drive meaning there will be nothing on it. *safe and you do not need a new key code or anything*
keep files you know what that does.. just keeps everything on your computer and only updating the OS system..

just download iso from the official website and offline upgrade.. i do it this way instead of waiting for the crappy logo.. i upgrade yesterday and activated.. so far no problem.

You have to upgrade first before you can clean install, if you wanna do that.
I asked Microsoft support and they said you can use the W7 or W8 keys for W10 if you wanna clean install later.


You can also revert back to the old Windows if you didn't like 10. But the option is only available for one month in settings.

Mount the iso in your current windows, then click setup.exe in the mounted iso and let the upgrade process to complete before clean install.

you cannot use the windows 7 product key to activate the windows 10. Just use the iso tfrom microsoft to upgrade and it will be activated automatically if u connect to the internet

Yes, mount the ISO in your current Windows, run setup.exe and let the upgrade process to complete, when boot into Windows 10, check if Windows is activated, if yes, proceed to clean install and just skip whatever screen that is asking for product key, it will be activated automatically after you finish the installation.

if you are using genuine windows...the activation key will store in your motherboard's bios...so no worries on changing to HDD or SSD next time.

if you are changing motherboard then is different story, you will have to call customer service to verify your activation key.

Want to ask, im using w7 home 64bit oem version, and i had already upgraded to w10 home, let say in future i want to change mobo, will microsoft detect it as a new machine? Coz i heard that cd key activation is stick to ur mobo.

no. it's not the same key, because during the clean install, you *do not* need to use any key. all you need to do is to install w10, skip any place that ask you for key. after successful install, connect to the internet and w10 will be activated automatically. yes, no key is needed.

that ms.tech probably is still not aware of what's going on. it's a new activation system, at least for this free upgrade offer of w10.

as far as I know, my windows 10 is licensed which it's license key was carried over from 8.1. it's window 10 license now.

it was like this :

Windows 8.1 Pro > upgrade to Windows 10 > Reset this pc ( Keep nothing ) > Fresh Windows 10

and when i reconnect to internet, i check This PC Properties, it atomically activated which is nice.

and it also give my computer a special name, which i probably leave it as it is, cause i scare if i change the name, my windows 10 will become non-activated....

The generic key for Windows 10 Pro would be VK7JG-NPHTM-C97JM-9MPGT-3V66T which is the same key used by Windows Insider Program.

Look guys, if you're having problems with the "Get Windows 10" upgrade, just backup what you want to keep, get the W10 ISO (make into a bootable USB), do a clean install of 8.1, upgrade clean 8.1 to W10. This is what I did, with no problems at all.

When 8.1 is upgraded to W10 (and activated), do a clean install of W10. Everything should be fine >> games, Office, Chrome, etc etc will work even better and faster (depending on your hardware, of course).

W10 itself will continue to be upgraded in the days to come >> hence the reason to get updates installed automatically (i.e. you DO NOT have the option to switch it off).
