Hey guys anyone has recent experience of relocating their Streamyx?

Just wondering how long does the process take usually and how much do I need to pay TM for it?

Trying to plan properly so I can limit my internet downtime as much as possible without terminating and applying a new account.

0.5mpbs upload speed is killing me slowly.

I have seen TM upgrading and adding new TM tower nearby my area. I wish its going to be Unifi. *finger crossed*

same here, end up just adding extra bandwidth doh.gif

rclxub.gif i also headache, the melting is very bad sometimes. It does not melt the phone box but melt the phone head wire like after one year the phone cable head melted very bad. Now recently just change the cable one month ago, now start show signs of infrequent disconnection. luckily is cheap only few RM to change but tired of changing the phone cable everytime (till now buy in bulk as stock at home lol)

Was wondering maybe my phone cable to long hmm.gif  (using 15 m to extend all the way to the modem upstairs)

You might want to check if there's anything heating the wire ie. microwave oven nearby, etc.

It could also be a sign that there may be too much power in your wire and/or your wire is sub standard (ie. too thin)

But as advised, better call them instead of fixing it yourself.

nope nothing near the wiring or phone box also. I been using the same wire from the same shop for the past 7 years, just recently this 2 years it started behaved like this. Maybe bcos KL keep have thunderstrom recently sweat.gif that burnt the wire. Too many factors to think.

That depends on what games you play and the server location

Recently, my mum asked the technician regarding with UniFi coverage in my area, he told her that it will be enabled within 2 months.
I'm hoping he's not giving me false hopes. Though, I'm still awaiting my reply from TM. I will be on tenterhooks.

I believe my torrent is cap but is it possible for me to call TM to lift it ?

Dear Sifus,

Does anyone knows whether Streamyx is enough to keep CCTV and alarm system working or I would need a faster internet connection?

Thanks!

I think if just normal DVR should be fine, but if HD DVR then... I don't think so as Streamyx only has an up speed of 512kbps (At best)

If you have the extra money. Go for Unifi, the extra upload is much better for surveillance monitoring

from my observation & some testing, torrent is definitely throttled by TM. tested by downloading a very active torrent, with 10k+ seeder.

my own house -> throttled
friend house (same area) -> throttled
office (20km away from my house) -> throttled
cousins house (even further) -> throttled

Yes, i do admit sometime i get high speed like 300kB/s, but itll only last for about few minutes, then the speed plummet to 5 ~ 15 kB/s.

*confirmed method to bypass the throttle is using proxy, "HTTPS" type works best. "SOCKS5" sometime cant update tracker, VPN will do as well, but the only downside is that it will tunnel your entire connection (on the pc which connected to VPN only) which will cause slow response on web browsing, and lag during online gaming.

theres plenty of free proxy list/VPN out there (google it), but you cant really rely on the speed. hence, its free smile.gif

get yourself a cheap VPS to set up some proxy or VPN. also keep in mind, downloading illegal torrent might risk your VPS on getting suspended. so, keep yourself away from *it*, ip echoleon is monitoring them well, not sure how they did it.

*it* = mostly the movie the people head/silhouette in it sweat.gif

well.. it seem the cause of speed drop past days was my port setting. use forwarded port=slow. i change to random, get full speed back. which make me really doh.gif. it's suppose to be forwarded=fast. and honestly, i just enjoy while the speed last.. brows.gif
