With good R&D surely can. ZBL-09 also started life a single vehicle of IFV role when it first appeared in 2008. Recent upgrade project in 2011-2012 only made the design modular into the many variants we see today. It is reported that Norinco & Poly Technologies plan to design up to 26 variants for the ZBL-09.

Got any news or video of chinese military hardware in use in africa? I've seen small arms in pictures but these new bigger items still not around. They probably have a big military hardware consumption inside so not really have the time/inventory to export out yet.

Thre still very large doubt on china weapon quality

Reverse engineering is not necessary better. I think u dont understand that if you copy something, it not necessary  better it might look the same but who knows it any better in capabilities.

Look at china jet engine, until now they can't  get the copy right and have to take from russia. Anyway, there news they are actually developing a new engine that at least on par with russian equivalent

RE engines is not an easy thing to do. Even South Korea had problems with their K2 Black Panther Tank's power pack. And South Korea is no stranger with automotive engines.

Woah, nice and thank you. Tanzania is a relatively peaceful country right? I mean not much insurgency and crazy bandit activity. Nigeria got something I think to do with boko haram. Now we need some combat videos of these hardware. brows.gif

that's the point of the AV8,it has the potential to be more so in the next 5-10 years if army planners want a ground vehicle they can use the AV8 as a base design.no need for retooling and an already familiar design

Nothing wrong with being ready. Tanzania is ok economically,so it's ok to have a decent armed forces. Choosing to buy PRC can also maximize acquisition, due to lower cost.

I hear also Norinco has special packages that can potentially cater to smaller countries with lower defense budgets. Chinese media has called these packages as 'military set meals'. laugh.gif

QUOTE
Norinco has even devised a novel way to make buying weapons easier: It bundles together starter kits of basic defense gear—everything from rifles to howitzers, laser-guided bombs, armored personnel carriers, tanks, and drones—for governments that want to quickly outfit their armed forces. Chinese state media has dubbed the package a “military set meal.”

Sejak bila k2 engine reverse engineering pulak? First time i heard about this. All i know is that one of the requirements was to use indegenous made engine. The problem with the engine is not it design but the parts inside the engine

Either wear off too quickly or break during testing. Report say it due to local contractors no experience in making powerpack especially for tanks. Components produced is not up to military quailty standard plus given the rush to field the K2 just make matters worse. Stop gap solutions is to get mtu from Germany which again iinm the same company that provide power pack for our pt91m although thre news that they originally wanted to get from japan the one used in type 10 but jepun refuse to sell

Lol.
New hawk come with modern avionics.
I would love it to have brimstone and hellfire in its weapons option.
Good option to use in esscom.
perhaps it can do surprisingly good tank hunting jobs.

My mistake. I thought that it was modeled after the German-developed MTU-890.

QUOTE
Modeled after the German-developed MTU-890, the K2 power pack is made up of a 1,500-horsepower diesel engine and transmission. Doosan Infracore and S&T Dynamics are the two main developers of the homegrown power pack and there are more than 1,000 subcontractors in South Korea.

Small jets for tank-hunting, also can do much more

Scorpion cost per-flight hour usd$3,000
Apache longbow cost per-flight hour usd$3,348

Also cheaper than apache longbow.. hmm keeps getting interesting hmm.gif hmm.gif

And with everyone having manpads everywhere, jets have less exposure time to manpads and have more chance to escape their range
