To be honest I give up reading this thread because you get the real bad cases which you won't want to engage the contractors' service. The ones recommended here you never know if they are contractors disguise as customers and self recommended. Even in the real cases the persons did the recommendations may also have different expectations from you.

I would just ask around from friends or people that I know. At least they know my expectations.
*
I feel the same way too. I actually think that those people might be self recommended and asking others to PM them so that they can provide their own number as a self advertisement.

Hi,

I suggest to visit https://ttpm.kpdnhep.gov.my/ and file a claim there.
But here is a long process and administrative work you might need to handle.

I to, very bad luck that i hand over my dream house ( basic unit ) to renovation contractor
1. to extend yard and wet kitchen ( roof type )
2. to extend car porch ( roof type ) hacked column and lay new floor tiles with concrete work
3. to hack and change all flooring upstairs, downstairs, staircase
4. to change and reno all 3 bathrooms
5. repair leakage
6. construct 30' concrete table

along the process , the renovation went messy and relation was sour. the workmanship is poor and they even used recycle woods.
There is no reply and feedback from phone call as well.
i also very headache and have became part time site auditor to check and audit the site almost daily.

what became worse if the product outcome was not fulfilled to my requirement and expectation.

i feel angry, upset and all my hard earned savings has been used up and not satistfy with the outcome and may have to get another 2nd contractor to continue.

Any body can also advice me how to move on?

Worry that if I report to tribunal. he will sabotage my family as we heard that contractors are usually evil

Aww, that's an awful experience. But not all contractors are evil.
Do you stay in the house that being renovated? Although chances are slim that Tribunal will really take any meaningful action on them, you should report to the tribunal to protect your rights.

How much of the works are outstanding? We are an interior design and renovation contractor too which led by a young yet experienced team. (Not the typical uncle contractor). We strives to eliminate these headaches and frustration for house owners.

If you need advice or any kinds of assistance, just drop me a pm or schedule an appointment with us on littleants.my

Hi Jojo88,

I am sorry that you have a very bad experience with your contractor. It must have been a hard time for you.

We are a renovation contractor ourselves and it severely affects genuine contractors like us when shady ones takes clients for a ride.
I have done quite a bit of re-works due to previous bad jobs, which in most cases is due to client engaging the 'cheapest contractor'.
I am not implicating the same on you, but the most important thing for client is to physically visit the contractors previous job.
You may find this tedious, but trust me that few days 'wasted' will benefit you in future!

I am not sure how complicated the situation is, should you need ideas or consultation, I will be more than happy to assist.
I understand it may not be easy to take the plunge and just go for another contractor, give yourself sometimes and decide.

We are based in Seremban and can cover the region, you can check our FB: BlueBlack Construction Sdn Bhd or call me at 0193881988

Good morning. Is there any government agencies that we can complain to if we encountered bad contactors? My ex contractor (already finished job) but never pickup phone, reply whatsapp, email and etc. to rectify they defects. Recently, water started leaking from roof.

Please help. Thanks.

I know this is a bit out of topic as this is about a bad home appliance repair man (not exactly a contractor) but please avoid this shop at all cost.

Avoid at all cost! https://kawanu.com/

U can read about my bad experience on the other thread

You will need to know whether it is defects/bad workmanship or wear & tear. Not everything falls under defects. Eg is silicone will have to be re-applied every few yrs due to the severe heat here no matter how good the silicone is.

Usually renovation do not touch structure, just architecture stuffs unless extension.

I am not blaming anyone in this forum and just want to share my side of story.

But to be honest I have to admit at that time I didn't even bother to make comparison because of all the reviews (even though I feel his price is not cheap) thinking everything will be all good.

Of course he may have his side of story to say its my problem but I couldn't be bothered. Life is as such and I am gonna just go source for some other guys to do all the remaining work for me.

Btw just a note that Yap is actually looking at this forum pretty closely cause he responded to my feedback here via text. And of course chase me for the balance payment and saying words like in this incident we can't be friend anymore (is this a threat to me?). This is what happened when you complain but not like I care.

I made it clear to him that I will pay only when the other people finish off the job that I expected him to complete without much problem. Like it or not.

Was quoted 120k for painting, installation of a dry wall divider (16ft long), approx 160 sqft tiling and some cabinets dismantling works. Is it reasonable? As I read a few do recommend him here.

I assume its typo and should be 12k because 120k sounds ridiculously high.

But anyway I wouldn't know whether his price is expensive or not for your case because I am not experienced. I only realised his price is a bit on the high side after I ask someone else to complete the unfinished work for me.

My thoughts - if the price is acceptable for you then you can go ahead with it but I would avoid any sort of electrical work.

Yes, 120k confirm. He say there will be some hidden things we can't see when dismantling the cabinets, thus his price is slightly expensive with quality assured. Need to pay him a charge of 100 for a detail quotation. Most of his client are professionals.

I shall ask around first for the market price then, afraid others say I lowball them on the price lol when I'm unsure what's the price range.

I cant see why it should be 120k if the works are only those you listed. Doesnt make sense at all. As a contractor myself I just did a double storey extension 300sqft for 120k.

120k and no itemized breakdown? If this line is so profitable I can do for you at half the price! 🤣

For a quote of 120k if he still needs to charge 100 for itemized quotation ... I think if I were you I will ask him to stick his quotation up his a$$.

What does "most of his clients are professionals"? Hookers or working people? That doesn't mean anything as there are suckers everywhere.

120k u can hack almost your whole house and wet work.

If you don't mind me asking:
Painting what? Your whole house? shocking.gif
What kind of tiles are you using?
Cabinets like kitchen type? Or cupboards? or walk-in wardrobe?
Any other details? sweat.gif
