QUOTE(ptrfaith91 @ Mar 26 2015, 02:36 PM) Dear Sifus sekalian, need recommendation for laptop used for architecture purposes. Hey ptrfaith91, 1. Preferred Brand Any brand will do. Don't believe any specific brand is better rather its a hit-and-miss. 2. Budget Within RM4000. Preferably just slightly above RM3000 but if RM4000 is what needed to get something good enough then let it be. 3. Usage 3D, Rendering, Animation, CAD 4. Preferred laptop/screen size 15-17 inch Been looking into Illegears and MSI because they say gaming laptops always has the highest specs but I am not really sure if the specs for gaming laptop is relevant to the specs for an architecture laptop or not. Any experienced architect to give some advice? If you're willing to spend a little above RM4k then you can consider the MSI GE62 2QE @RM4,199 Intel i7-4720HQ Nvidia 960M 2GB GDDR5 8GB DDR3 RAM + 1TB SATA HDD (7200RPM) It's comparable to the Illegear Z5 v1 pricing but with a 960M GPU. However, if you got your own copy of OS then can save some $$$ with the Illegear model. MSI new GE series can also support SuperRaid2 that uses 3x SSD in Raid0 format for fast read/write speeds. Good for accessing large files. Next best thing is single SSD. For architecture, and when you are doing modeling and simulations, you really need a Quadro Card instead. But if no budget then next best thing is to buy a notebook with a fast CPU. Quad Core preferred. Hope this helps. Happy Shopping!! http://my.msi.com/product/nb/GE62-2QE-Apac...l#hero-overview |

1. Preferred Brand - Don't have a particular preference. 2. Budget RM 2,000 or below, but if really needed I can go up to RM 2,500. 3. Usage - Mostly web browsing, watching movies, and some Excel work. Prefer having an internal DVD drive. 4. Preferred laptop/screen size About 15" or thereabouts. 1. Preferred Brand - nothing in particular, something with a long warranty or the option to extend it. using an old xps now, but the new ones are above budget.
2. Budget - 4k +/- 3. Usage - work, movies, web surfing and gaming. 4. Preferred laptop/screen size - 15 inch. 1080p. hoping to get something that can play, doesnt have to be on the highest settings, any game that i throw at it for the next year or two. and something that looks good. was looking at the envy 15 q203tx (love the looks and touchscreen, but gtx850 i know this seems a bit much to ask for in my budget.. thanks guys. |

1. Preferred Brand: Asus or Dell
2. Budget: Below RM2.2k 3. Usage : Mostly web browsing, office work, watching movie, general usage 4. Preferred laptop/screen size: 14/15 inch (as long as the weight is suitable to bring around. I actually have 3 models in mind: Asus A455LD-WX146H 14" (i5-5200U, 4GB, 1TB, NV GT820M, W8.1) Dell Inspiron 14 5448-20452G-W8 (i5-5200U, 500GB, 4GB, AMD M265, W8.1) Dell Inspiron 14 3443-20452G-W8 (i5-5200U, 500GB, 4GB, NV 820M, W8) Other than the general specifications, what are the difference among these models? (eg battery, sound, build quality) Thank you very much. |

I think the new Z5 is also priced at RM4k something. Similar to GE62. If you got unlimited budget, no need to get quad core, there is 6 core cpu already. |
