How about ASUS? From what I see most of their laptops still come with an optical drive. Some googling also pointed out that ASUS laptops are generally very reliable (although their tech support is not).

Hey, guys. I'm asking for a friend.

My friend recently bought a laptop (I am not sure of the model) around RM1500. Problem with it is that it only has 2GB RAM. I'm finding a better laptop in the same range with a higher amount of RAM (maybe 4GB, or 8GB would be much more appreciated). Low range-mid range GPU will be fine because she does not do gaming. Also, maybe i5 or higher.
