Smallest external flashlite that is of any good for for me (at least specs wise) would be the Nissin i40. Why? Because it at least does portrait bounce. I very rarely shoot in landscape orientation so yeah.

But if you're afraid of proper TTL no other choice but to use a Sony unit lor. Personally I think the Metz would do fine but check reviews online first. Also, check if it's for the "new" Sony hotshoe or not, if you haven't already.
*
i40's feature is good too. but the price draw me back.. sweat.gif
ya i know, "cheap not good, good not cheap" but my budget for flashlite is < Rm500, i hope to find a reasonable flashlite within this price range smile.gif

ay cloud will block the view u just had to wait until it gone

And u need a tripod for sure
*
You don't need a tripod for moon. Just use aperture priority, set your lens to F8, ISO400. Choose spot metering and set the moon right in the centre of the frame. The shutter speed will most probably be around 1/200. Don't bother framing the moon since you're most probably gonna be cropping the picture anyways.

im planning to get a external flashlite for my A6000, F20M at Rm499.
the price is fine for me, but i seldom use, so if possible, i want something more cheaper.

how about this model? Metz 24? Selling at Rm299, and it has TTL feature.
http://www.lelong.com.my/metz-24-af-1-meca...7-01-Sale-I.htm

i just worried that 3rd party TTL is not accurate. later ended up using manual  sweat.gif
*
Metz to me is the best and most reliable 3rd party flash. They're ADI/TTL is just as accurate as Sony's. YongNuo/Nissin/Octopus/Sunpak/etc I don't wanna comment.

Trying out some noobie B&W with the Tokky 3.5/17. Shot wide open so please forgive the haziness. Straight from the A6k with basic PP on my phone.

Somehow this pic just makes me want the Rokkie 2/12 even more now... Not... enough... bokeh...

Yeah, I actually want bokeh for my UWAs... I'm prolly just crazy like that.

im 2nd to newbieeeeeee,

Metz is know to be closest to accurate in TTL for canikony... with proper i/e-ttl/ADI. others are just plain hit and miss ttl. till today, nissin and YN that i tested recently (nissin 4th gen? ttl, YN 2nd gen ttl, both for canon) still hit and miss.

after a little google up and homepage searching.... both brand(metz/nissin) doesnt provide proper information of hotshoe although both claim support Sony ADI/ttl, nor the photo are conclusive showing the new sony Multimedia Interface (MI) iso hotshoe... just plain iso hotshoe which mean, no concrete evidence of Mi hotshoe interface... so the only way is to head down to a shop who carries them to take proper 'LOOK' at the hotshoe before buying online(RISK). (if anyone actually seen those flash with sony MI hotshoe, please let us know)

my own 2 cent, i wont bother the metz24 or nissini40, that rm500 spend, rather save it more for a proper F43M(rm7xx). why? if you just need a light fill, the pop up(finger move it to bounce) is more then enough under iso1600~ worried bout ugly direct flash light? please use 'SlowSync Flash' mode. you will be surprise how the Slowsync Flash does wonders!. and when saved for a F43m, it can be better in many ways from "house gathering" to 'event' shooting with the faster cycle then Metz/Nissin.

Im not really sure about the hotshoe, but if I were to guess, it'll be the old Sony hotshoe. Believe me or not, I actually prefer the old hotshoe over the new ISO hotshoe. One reason only. Because the old one 'clicks' in, unlike the ISO which you have to turn turn turn for it to lock. Not sure if you understand what Im trying to say or not. sweat.gif

And if you find a good deal online, you can get the F43 cheap. I got mine, mint condition no scratches no nothing, white bulb, full set, under warranty for a few more months for RM400/450. Cant really remember. tongue.gif

the new Mi hotshoe, a lot ppl didnt know, its also "quick lock"~ all you need is set the level to lock, push the flash onto the camera hotshoe, and lock. if u have the new hotshoe, take it out and look, there is 2 pin thing that pops up after you set the level to lock, that 2 pin is "spring-ed" so mean u can push the flash onto the camera with the level set to lock, and it will autolock.

after all, Sony really put effort into their smart designs.

Unfortunately, no. I thought that that it was just the Tokky being hazy wide open, so I just left it be. Apparently I was missing focus entirely lol, considering all the hyperfocal pics at F8 with the Tokky turned out sharper than a tack.

Gonna set peaking back to mid now. On high it was being a bit too sensitive, throwing me off by quite a lot on a WA like the Tokky - peaking marks everywhere. Maybe I should turn on focus assist zoom as well.

Dang I miss my old split prism on the Nikon FG lol, but this is WAY better than unaided MF I had to live with on my old A200. That said, I prolly need to practice more before I can even think of getting the Rokkie 12.

As for the Minolta hotshoe, I've been through both and and I can honestly say I prefer the ISO modified one (the Mi shoe? Xiaomi might not like that Sony) as it's more secure with a "lock" that actually locks stuff in place.

The "autolock" hotshoe can be a bit loose sometimes. I remember that it got to the point I had to resort to taping the insides of the flash side mounting on my old Minolta 5600HS (also known as the old HVL-F56AM) back during the day.

You need at least 150mm lens I think to get nice moon pic.

These what I got with 55mm lens using digital zoom.

E mount. I'll try playing with the settings some more as activating certain something will deactivate some menu options, but its really frustrating missing the focus, its fine looking from the camera but unusable when viewing on pc
