I just bought my A6000 from the sony fair at lowyat. Bought it at one shop at the ground floor, I think it's fotokem.
Got myself the A6000 with kit lens + sony 16GB class 10 memory card. Free items from fotokem include the small blue camera pouch, a camera cleaner kit, and lcd screen protector for a total cost of RM 2400.
From the fair, Sony malaysia gave me one extra battery, another pouch, but it's actually meant for handycam, so not suitable for A6000 (where i think the pouch is useless), and a body case for A6000 which I have yet to collect as they have run out of stock today. Also, sony malaysia upgraded the warranty for my camera with kit lens to 3 years warranty. That is the fair promotion.
Also, I bought a prime lens SEL35F18 for RM 1k. But this has the normal Sony 1 year 3 months warranty.
I think I got a pretty good deal for this. However, the sales person sweet talk me into buying lens filter. I bought two lens filter, one for the kit lens SELP1650 and one for the SEL35F18. Each lens filter cost RM100. So total RM200 for the lens filter from this brand Steinzeiser (DMC UV 40.5mm and DMC UV 49mm). Have I overpaid for the lens filter?
Once back home, now I am charging up the battery. 2 complaints:
1. Why do I charge battery by connecting the cables to the camera? Panasonic has an external battery charger where I just stick my battery to the module.
2. How do I know when the battery is fully charged? I see a yellow light at the side of the camera body. It's been 4 hours since I charged and it's still yellow. Does it take so long to charge or only the first time?
1. Sony is aiming to go really low for their camera price. hence they remove the unnecessary component like a external charger. (less thing to bring on traveling) a simple USB outlet and cable will do. it also will charge when you doing file transfer. the plus size, instead of spending 299rrp for a exra battery that's only 900mAh, you can easily buy a Mi 10k powerbank for less then 50myr and u still can charge it anytime anywhere.
2. on the camera it will write 100% then u know is fully charged.
