Hi guys, just thought of sharing for those who wanted to apply a cimb card and get RM150 Cash Back.

http://www.cimbbank.com.my/promo/cashrebate
*
10% rebate on interest charged,
seems like encouraging user to be in debt...hmm

but 5% online retail amd 2% petrol seems not bad as a back-up card
no annual fee too

but does this mean?
Finance Charge for Retail Transaction

The charges are:

1.25% per month or 15% per annum if you have promptly settled your minimum payment due for 12 consecutive months
1.42% per month or 17% per annum if you have promptly settled your minimum payment due for at least 10 months in a 12-month cycle.
1.50% per month of 18% per annum if your payment record is not within either (a) or (b) above.

............................

so is it better than ocbc 1% unlimited?

I think most of you didn't read the earlier posts I had.

1. I lost my card.
2. The card is already blocked, I called in to block it.
3. Maybank wants RM50 to issue me a new card unless I make a police report
4. If the card can still be used when it's already blocked then Maybank has serious issues.

Overall Maybank's customer appreciation is pathetic. Will drop by CIMB today to see what they can offer.
*
i think they have to. if not every1 will be claiming that their card is 'lost' to get a new one. whether accidentally destroy it or damaging it due to own carelessness.

apple store malaysia do manual processing..
if they didnt call you to verify your card on weekend, it will not be process until they call u..
but still, using amex is a better option..if cant get 5% rebate, you still have 5x TP..

QUOTE(tcken @ Aug 3 2014, 10:54 PM)
Oh I see. Thanks. Now I know the reason why. By the way, anyone knows if buy things from amazon.com, its better to use amex or visa card?
*

I started to hate MBB and I found out that they don't appreciate loyal customers.

I'm starting to move out my FD to CIMB.

After being with MBB and using their cards for > 5 years, they don't consider to upgrade my Gold to Platinum or a limit increase.

Feel regretted to attach my house loan with them.
*
good choice on the FD..CIMB is offering 3.4% interest p.a. now..
but do they have good card to begin with?

and do not open SA account as they have annual fees...

I'm using BSA 1. No annual fee for the ATM card.

For CC, no idea yet. Haven't doing any research.

Exchange rate for both are more or less the same. The problem here is the 'add on' for foreign trnx. For AMEX trnx, a single charge of 2.5% by AMEX, bank do not charge. For Visa trnx, a charge of 1% by Visa and 0.5 % by Maybank.

this doesnt make sense..based on your info..

AMEX = 2.5%
Visa = 1.5%

but the comparison i get is AMEX rate is lower than Visa..
perhaps Visa fees already increase for mbb card?

sorry as i'm confused....
if based on that site:

- Maybank VISA/MasterCard : 1%
- Maybank American Express with Maybank logo on top : 2.5%

so, VISA and MC should be lower rate right? shocking.gif

but why you guys still insist AMEX is better? sweat.gif rclxub.gif

is it coz by the 5% rebate on weekend?
if on weekdays....VISA/MC better? hmm.gif

For USD, Amex may be better. It is after all AMERICAN EXPRESS biggrin.gif
For other currency, it is best use VISA/MASTER, as Amex will always convert the currency to USD then convert back to MYR which most of the time get lower rates.

Thanks for the info. I always thought AmEx is higher compared to VISA or MC. smile.gif
Not sure if this applies for PayPal as well? Though most of the time I purposely wait until weekend to purchase stuff online and charge them to PayPal which is linked to my AmEx though.

if you use the exchange rate by the cc rather than paypal rate, i think the result would be the same as the rest of online transaction
