How does your SG menu look like now?
*
Well I think I feed them properly.

They get the mix every night to eat. There is chicken, yogurt, juices, gerber baby food, wheatgerm and oats. They really like this mix because they finish it every night. thumbup.gif

In the morning not everyday but maybe 5 times a week they get fruits or veggie. But they don't really eat much of this. Maybe a few pieces each.

For snacks I give them raisins and mealworms. And from what I can see they don't seem to overeat. Maybe Rene is sometimes a little piggy and gorge herself on the food... but maybe its because she exercises less than Roscoe. He is one energetic critter! He was scent marking everything last night, even me a few times. And he picks up things he finds around the room to eat sweat.gif I have to watch him like a hawk.

hmmm...what happen to his previous partner?

You intend to breed your male glider issit? I think it is quite tough to bond a one year old glider since you've already bonded to your glider for so long...

Anyway, good luck in your quest....

One thing - they are still small, I think around 1.5 to 2 months. What should I feed them? They don't even drink fresh water!

I had the same problem when I got my sugarglider, Boo. She was pretty young when I got her, 8 weeks old I think, and a very picky eater - wouldn't drink plain water, wouldn't touch most of the fruits I tried to give her...don't worry, they'll grow out of it.

I'm not sure how other owners did it, but I kept mine hydrated with Pet's Own easy to digest lactose free milk. I get it from the petshop near the badminton court in Taman Megah, looks like this:

Don't worry about them not learning how to drink water, Boo has learned to drink water from a hamster water bottle now even though I still give her the milk with her dinner nowadays.

Other than that, I'd suggest that you try the sweeter fruits to start with, like mango, rambutan or papaya. Don't worry if they don't eat mealworms at first as well. They'll learn to eat them when they're ready for it. Just keep experimenting and expect to waste a fair amount of food finding out what your gliders will eat. Also try crazymouse's glider mix. It's watery so helps keep your glider from getting dehydrated, and it makes a great licky treat to help bond with them.

Be patient. The first few weeks were pretty difficult for me because I worried all the time... you can ask tagreptiles how many times I pestered him with frantic sms's everytime I thought something was wrong with Boo. sweat.gif

Hope this helps, all the best! smile.gif

soggie,

I think from time to time, Sugar Glider owners should "go back to basics". I am sure all of us has done the necessary research on SGs before indulging ourselves in raising them. First of all, the natural diet for gliders in the wild made up of EUCALYPTUS SAP. That's where they get all the water from. So in captivity with us, what's closest to EUCALYPTUS SAP? GLIDER MIX.

So, get a good Glider Mix from CrazyMouse, of course you leave the water bowl/bottle in their cage as well. I do not think in the forest where they live have APPLES growing. So all these, are food that we are introducing to them. Therefore, they will take some time before they get used to the new food we give them.

I PMed her for the stuff but she never replied. Sigh.

Guess I'll have to make my own glider mix then. I'm heading out today to buy stuff... got a list of them ready.

Apple Juice
Honey
Boiled Egg (Do I need to remove the egg yolk in it?)
Gerber Baby Cereal (or cornflakes)
Wheat Germ (No idea what this is)
Sprikle of calcium (No idea where to get this)
Vitamins Supplement (No idea too)

Boiled Chicken

Do the SG take mealworms when they are small? I'm not sure how to feed 'em that cause the mealworms seems huge.

Anura,

Most local petshop does not know how to take good care of SGs let alone do research on bringing in SG Vitamins. Therefore, there is no such thing in the local market.

Hun's 012 number is not working. She's working and after work very tired. So she doesn't come online much anymore.
