PETALING JAYA: Four small capitalised stocks hit limit-down yesterday, drawing the scrutiny of Bursa Malaysia. The four stocks went down almost simultaneously in the afternoon session, triggering speculation that the heavy sell-off was no coincidence. As at press time, Visdynamics Holdings Bhd told the exchange that it was unaware of any development that could be the cause for its share price to hit limit-down. The company was queried by the exchange over the unusual market activity (UMA) after the stock lost more than a third of its value to close 30 sen down at 47 sen yesterday. The biggest percentage loser yesterday was MNC Wireless Bhd whose share price plunged 23 sen, or 60% to close at 15 sen. The stock saw 20.6 million shares changing hands. The company has yet to respond to Bursa’s UMA query as at Press time. Dealers contacted by StarBiz yesterday said the unexplained heavy losses by these counters may rattle nervy investors and spark a broader sell-off in the market. “We are also assessing the trades in these counters including engaging with the brokers as to the reasons for such selling,’’ Bursa Malaysia said in an emailed response to a StarBiz query yesterday. “We will continue to vigilantly monitor the trading and take any other relevant action to ensure preservation of market integrity,” it said. Another stock that was hit hard yesterday was Solution Engineering Holdings Bhd, which went down 14 sen, or 53%, to 12 sen. Solution Engineering is 10.8% owned by Industronics Bhd, which saw its share price come down by a hefty 30 sen, or 44% yesterday to close at 38.5 sen. Except for Industronics’ stake in Solution Engineering, there was no other obvious common link between the four companies. The four have a combined market value of just about RM120mil, the biggest of which is Visdynamics with a market capitalisation of RM47mil. The steep decline in the shares of these companies took some shine off the fast-rising small cap stocks. The FTSE Bursa Malaysia Small Cap Index had risen 12.3% year-to-date at 17,631 points yesterday, off its all-time high of 17,867 points reached last Tuesday. In comparison, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KL Composite Index was down 0.6% since the start of January at 1,855 points. While there is growing worries that prices of smaller stocks may have run ahead of its fundamentals, some analayts believe that there is plenty of room for upside for the sector. “The market may be taking a breather, but the lung is not collapsing,” MIDF Research said. It said despite the recent run-up, index’s technical reading remained “comfortably” in its “bullish formation” at above its 50-day moving average. “With the volatile May beckoning, we believe exciting times are in store for the lower liners,’’ it added. Investors were seen chasing up smaller stocks in recent months after a five-year bull run in the market lifted valuation of bigger stocks to a premium compared to their historical average. --------------- Last night charts..... Selldown on small-cap stocks Business & Markets 2014 Written by Charlotte Chong of theedgemalaysia.com Tuesday, 29 April 2014 08:54 A + A - Reset KUALA LUMPUR: Three small-cap counters — Industronics Bhd, VisDynamics Holdings Bhd and MNC Wireless Bhd — fell victim to a strong selldown yesterday, sparking concern whether the small-cap party is soon to be over. MNC Wireless topped the loser list, plummeting 60.5%, or 23 sen, to 15 sen yesterday from 38 sen last Friday, with 20.58 million shares changing hands. VisDynamics plunged 39%, or 30 sen, to 47 sen from 77 sen last Friday. Industronics dropped 43.8% to 38.5 sen, while Solution Engineering Holdings Bhd slid 52.7% to 13 sen. The heavy selling in Solution Engineering was partly due to the sale of 5.5 million shares, or a 2.96% stake, by Industronics at 12.63 sen per share on the open market. Some 47.9 million Solution Engineering shares were traded yesterday. Apart from VisDynamics, MNC Wireless was slapped with an unusual market activity (UMA) query by Bursa Malaysia after its share price hit limit down yesterday. The share prices of small-cap stocks have jumped in recent months to multi-year peaks, if not record highs. Before the selldown, MNC Wireless soared 46.15% in just two months to 38 sen on April 25 from 26 sen on Feb 20, while Solution Engineering climbed 40% within a month to 35 sen on April 22 from 25 sen on March 7. VisDynamics jumped 24.2% to 77 sen on April 25 from 62 sen on Dec 31 last year. On the other hand, Industronics rose 9.6% to 68.5 sen last Friday from 62.5 sen on Feb 4. Dealers said should the selling continue, it would prompt margin calls on stocks that had lost ground, and that would result in more downward pressure caused by forced selling. Already some stockbroking houses have designated a list of small-cap counters whose share prices have leapt several fold. The benchmark FBM KLCI dropped marginally by 0.28%, or 5.34 points, to 1,855.74 points yesterday. Etiqa Insurance & Takaful Bhd head of research Chris Eng concurred that Malaysian small-cap counters are relatively pricey compared with the big-cap stocks. “The small-cap stocks are outperforming the big-cap [ones],” he said. Eng felt that the weakening in the second half of April served as an indicator of possible stronger selldown or greater decline in the following month. “It will go down further in May,” he said. Commenting on the overall market, Eng said: “We will witness some weaknesses in the second half of April due to poor economic data. Domestically, we are uncertain of the implementation of the goods and services tax, whether it would be delayed.” He noted that it was unexpected that US corporate results had came in quite solid, which prompted rallies in the global equity markets. It was reported on April 22 that Standard & Poor’s 500 Index and the Nasdaq posted a sixth straight session of gains, led by the healthcare sector in the US. Eng said the FBM KLCI would take cues from the coming corporate results announcement next month, adding that the implementation of higher wages and the increase in utility bills would eat into corporate earnings. This article first appeared in The Edge Financial Daily, on April 29, 2014. |

QUOTE(Boon3 @ Apr 29 2014, 10:34 AM) Let me psycho you.... coz the value is 'right' for us now and to buy at undervalued stock when stocks shoot up 20% or more..... would you dare buy? how often do you chase those stocks right away? now when stocks shoot down 20% or more... why do you want to buy those stocks right away? why the thinking is different? |

QUOTE(andrekua2 @ Apr 29 2014, 11:17 AM) IT, depends. Now a lot of freelancers, especially Indians, come and undercut you. They can do things cheap. People nowadays outsource to them. Programming for small companies is a deadend. Now only huge companies (well, mid to large enterprises) can afford to keep them. Imagine this, you spend 3 months to train them, yes programming is that difficult to train. Work for you for 6 months, they run to another company for higher pay. The cycle continues. In terms of pay, I can't outpay when compared to large companies. So now, I scale down and do only when I have time. |

So now, I scale down and do only when I have time. My boss paid few hundreds for a company profile which is basically nothing, just 4-5 pages of shit. Then they also paid few hundreds for ad design which is basically just like bunch of photos in aligned row, columns with description. I wish they would paid me for that. |

QUOTE(andrekua2 @ Apr 29 2014, 11:25 AM) Just do low end job la... you will be surprised by what they get compared to what they deliver. Ask your boss to outsource to me My boss paid few hundreds for a company profile which is basically nothing, just 4-5 pages of shit. Then they also paid few hundreds for ad design which is basically just like bunch of photos in aligned row, columns with description. I wish they would paid me for that. I sapu anything, guarantee cheap and good quality |

QUOTE(jonchai @ Apr 29 2014, 11:21 AM) IT, depends. Now a lot of freelancers, especially Indians, come and undercut you. They can do things cheap. People nowadays outsource to them. Programming for small companies is a deadend. Now only huge companies (well, mid to large enterprises) can afford to keep them. got outsource JOB for me Imagine this, you spend 3 months to train them, yes programming is that difficult to train. Work for you for 6 months, they run to another company for higher pay. The cycle continues. In terms of pay, I can't outpay when compared to large companies. So now, I scale down and do only when I have time. Experience with BANK and INSURANCE -10year exp |

QUOTE(jonchai @ Apr 29 2014, 11:22 AM) I bought at 475 I regret setting TP too high for Genting. Could've sold off at 10, I set at 10.4 pulak. Now also nosedive. this is why I told you, I only like to play stocks that has got huge potentials.... buying Genting at 970 and having a TP of 1040.... very limiting potential.... |

spring onion
QUOTE i was expecting the current quarter performance is on par with last quarter ok la. not much expectation. QUOTE you normally should not compare a q result with its preceding q result. comparison should be made with same quarter the previous year. some business are seasonal. for example, for this reporting quarter, it's the period from Dec to Feb. For exporters to countries like US... this is a slow, slow time of the year. It takes a little WORK... lay out the q results like this below... 2011 q1 q2 q3 q4 2012 q1 q2 q3 q4 2013 q1 q2 q3 q4 where q1 shows q1 profits, q2 shows q2 profits... once it is laid out... certain trends for certain companies are very clear.... yes, it becomes a simple look see exercise... Want to show you this.... This is the sample table... ![]() as you can see from the table... every year.... 1. Q1 profits < Q4 2. Q2 profits < Q1 3. Profits only picks up in Q3 and Q4. Why? it's seasonal. such characteristic happens in a lot of companies.... for example also... say beer sale... they always increase in festive seasons.... remember for an exporting company to US, Q1 and Q2 are the 'slower' period. And when you gauge a company, how do you gauge it? You gauge the company's progress each year right? The most important thing for shareholders is to see profit grow each year.... and to help this, financials whiz, uses yardsticks like TTM or trailing twelve month earnings.... |

QUOTE(Boon3 @ Apr 29 2014, 03:01 PM) no need sorry. this thread went too fast today. Anyway, I think it's all BS - making a big fuss over nothing. The volumes clearly indicated all those stocks (which co incidentally all had rotten fundamentals) were well MANAGED.... so what the big deal if it goes crashing down? More to come in the next few months? Wondering why 4 at the SAME time? Same person/fund manager? Cheerio. |

Actually fundamentals, you should ask gark... His England explain much better... If it is hard to see, use it with TTM. As long as the TTM numbers is better than the last year fy number... you know growth will be there.... Company A... Yes. clearly a growth company. Company B... Also growth company... Same Company C. Use TTM, trailing twelve months. you can see better. for example again... ![]() last fy 2013 eps 7.56 sen ttm eps now 10.25 sen ** in this case, the TTM assumption is Q3 and Q4 earnings is constant. and if it is constant TTM eps is 10.52... which means, there is a possibility the fy 2014 eps would improve from 7.56 sen to 10.25 sen. However.... LOL! As we know, Q3 and Q4 earnings usually stronger.... we assume here hor.... our risk.... which means there is a possibility that the EPS should be higher than 10.25 sen.... If I have to guess (hope I am not wrong) I would say maybe 13sen or 14sen.... ok? |

QUOTE(spring onion @ Apr 29 2014, 05:29 PM) it will head downwards(MYR, not USD Errr.... my England not good enough. so when MYR is down, supposedly export volume increases, this causes large order for export company if buyers pays exporter in debt, this would probably increase the company profit. lets see how this company goes Maybe that chart is not easy to see as a whole. ![]() Let's begin again and let me shoot you a long posting..... please note I am only explaining it as it is.... not a sell and not a buy.... If you read the earnings result, in fact the past few months, it is said that the HIGHER USD helped boost its profits. homer's main business is its exports. Yes exports. Most of it, is sold in USD. Higher USD translates to more ringgit, which means more profit. Ok so far? Yesterday result is for Dec 2013 to Feb 2014. I dared to guess the result should be good. This is because the USD multiple impact would be positive. let show you... This is the USD chart, from Dec 2013 to Feb 2014... ![]() As you can say low USD was about 3.15, high was about 3.35.... and rough eye estimate is about 3.27 or so.... around there la... Now compare to previous year period, ie Dec 2012 to Feb 2013... yes compare against the previous year same period.... this is last year chart of that period... ![]() low is about 2.94, high only 3.10 mostly... my rough eye estimate would say 3.05 or so. Now if say Homer export sales is USD 2 million. That USD 2 million, a year ago, using 3.05 would translate to around 6.1 million ringgit only. Compare to this period, where the USD is around roughly 3.27. That same USD 2 million translates to 6.54 million.. Same export figure but more ringgit back. Ok so far? please if I am wrong so far, say so la. I also learn learn one.... boh tak chik one. Now this is where we get to GUESS the coming Q3 figures... with the help of the USD current prices. Next Q3 is for the period MARCH 2014 to MAY 2014. First we get last year chart first... This is how the USD traded last year for the period March 2013 to May 2013. ![]() rough eye estimate? I would say 3.05. Ok we only have March 2014 and Apr 2014 figures... May 2014 not here yet... anyway this is where we are at.... ![]() my rough eye estimate.... maybe so far 3.25... comparing 3.25 and 3.05.... I can safely guess we should see positive USD multiplier impact again for Homer.... which means.... would you guess that the next quarter, Homer should also report much better earnings? ok so far? |

QUOTE(spring onion @ Apr 29 2014, 07:47 PM) ok. i did take a while to digest this. high conversion means higher profit, because buyers buy in USD. i think way out from this statement liao. took so you long to reply my 3 line. paiseh paiseh. thanks No problem la.The same can be used for a company like AirAsia. We know for a fact that AirAsia borrowing is really big and the most crucial fact is that the borrowings are mostly in USD. So given the comparisons of where the USD are now versus last year, we know for a fact AirAsia will be hit by forex losses. Yes, AirAsia does hedge a portion (around 40% iinm) of its loans (last I recall reading, it hedged at 3.22) but that's enough. Borrowing costs will increase and the difference in the USD will translates to losses. |

This post has been edited by spring onion: Apr 30 2014, 08:51 AM |

AirAsia currently have 1 billion + cash... Cash is decreasing each quarter..... not an issue? Example.. Air Asia buy 1 plane for USD 300 million for example.. Air Asia does not hand the cheque to Airbus and take the plane. Instead Air Asia will 'lease' the plane for USD 300 million for 20 years for example, each year pay USD 15 mil in lease to Airbus. Technically the plane belong to Air Asia until expiry of lease when it will revert back to Airbus. Usually this is done with 0%-1% interest rate as incentive by airbus to sell more planes. As this is a long term lease, the asset is recorded and liabilities also but does not affect the actual cashflow. As long as profit generated per plane > lease payment per plane, they should be able to manage the cashflow. But then again... never buy anything with wings on 'em. Another china share cannot issue audited report...change auditor when another resign, another one to fall?
QUOTE "The Board of Directors of HB wishes to announce that the issuance of AFS 2013 will be delayed as Messrs. UHY Lee Seng Chan & Co., the new external auditors of the Company was just appointed on 21 April 2014 and the audit is currently still in progress. The Company wishes to provide more time for the external auditors to complete the AFS 2013 and is working closely with the external auditors to finalise the audit expeditiously. The Company expects to submit its AFS 2013 on or before 30 June 2014." QUOTE "4) BDO also highlighted that they were unable to carry out the stock count for inventory balance as at 30 June 2013. The carrying amounts of the frozen food items at the old warehouse were approximately RMB 81 million representing 79% of the total inventories as at 30 June 2013. This was because the frozen food items were not properly arranged as well as the entrance to the old warehouse were not easily accessible; alternatively, BDO had checked the goods stock in notes, suppliers invoices, finished goods received notes, monthly production reports, goods stock out notes and sales invoices to determine reasonableness of inventories balance as at 31 December 2012 with no exception noted." QUOTE The auditor was able to reconcile the cash balance, trade receivables and trade payables contrary to Paul Wan &Co disclaimer of opinion." QUOTE "In view of the findings by BDO, the management is seeking legal advice with the legal counsel on appropriate action to be taken against the previous auditor." First auditor Paul Wan & Co says cannot reconcile cash, recieveable and payable amount. Then HB Global appoint 2nd Auditor BDO suddenly can reconcile and sued first auditor Then BDO also suddenly resigned just before financial report dateline and now they have appoint 3rd auditor UHY... Whoever buy this kind of shares deserve first class ticket to Holland... This post has been edited by gark: Apr 30 2014, 05:03 PM |

QUOTE(lambethwalk @ May 1 2014, 02:47 PM) next quarter, MUST throw first before all announce bad results Not an easy game strategy. Besides the requirement of an ability to read financial results fairly accurately.... you need to anticipate the market reactions towards the results..... it's more of a make or break play..... requires tons of balls of steel.................. |

Should it rebound, of course, must be based on their FA la, then it would be a lot more rewarding as the stock price catches up. I understand what you are saying for company B. Yes, it's possible, that given the current bull market, the share price could be sky high. But isn't this what share investing is all about? You cannot simply buy any good company at any given price! Buying price is everything! Company X is all time low. But how sure are we with that statement? I am sure you was tempted cos you saw some q-q improvement in profits... BUT the y-y comparison showed that profits dropped 42%!! Also, you probably was tempted by the previous highest price recorded by X. Yup, you compare the high then and you compare the price now... and obviously, it look as if the price dropped a lot. However, this is one thing you need to to differentiate and realise. When X price was shooting, the market gave it a very high rating based on growth. When a growth stock ceases to be a growth stock, that stock can really tumble one........ Last time I was asked to study semi-con stocks. Focus on stocks on MPI. During the dot com area, MPI was trading around 60 bucks. Valuation actually wasn't even expensive. It paid good dividends... balance sheet showed millions of cash no loans... belonged to a very rich, successful tycoon... it even got share buyback... what could go wrong? when the growth stopped.... everything came crashing down..... it's more than 20 years already.... the company and the stock never did recover..... of course X and MPI not the same. if the business recover, of course the stock could recover..... but why want to bet on it now? sometimes in stock market, the early bird strategy... carries much more risk. As it is, the stock price is pricey.... certainly doesn't deserve current price based on its current profits..... |

QUOTE(cksoon @ May 5 2014, 09:13 PM) Yikes! May I ask again what's the big deal about 'sell in May.... ' ??? Has it even proven to be a right strategy? Have you done your homework and concluded that this is a great strategy to rely on? OK, I am not going to prove you are right or wrong... but let me just throw in few pictures. And you try to think the reliability of such a strategy. Point is, in the market, never trust anyone but your ownself. 2012. ![]() Comment: Market DID PLUNGE but only in mid May. (14 May) However, as quickly as it dropped (it dropped close to 56 pts. The drastic plunge happened from 14 May to 18 May. 4 days only. Market rallied from 21 May onwards. By 19 Jun, the market was actually higher than May. KLCI's May high was 1590. KLCI closed 2012 at 1681. Market rallied 155 points from May lowest. of 1526. Sell in May, did it work? I could stop right here. All it takes is one wrong to disapprove the theory.... Here is 2013. ![]() Sell in May? hard to see off hand. CI ended 2 May 2013 at 1723. Closed end May 2013 at 1769. market ended May much higher!!! Market only had a correction end June and another bigger one at end Aug. Sell in May, did it work? Now I do one extra. I just simply chincai choose PBank. Now imagine if one just blindly follow Sell in May strategy. This is the chart of PBank for that period in May 2013. ![]() And this is the bigger picture of PBank. ![]() If investor buta-buta sell in May, the investor would have gotten around 16++ for Pbank. End of last year, PBank closed at 19++. And the 16++ 'was'' not been seen again for PBank for 2013.......... Sell in May and go away......... ???? You decide yourself if this is a good or bad strategy??? |

I know, it's impossible to explain. Somehow this 'sell in may' thing is so like them PONG SWAY charts.... no matter what the actual data shows.... many prefer to believe in such stiff. |

Volume maintained consistently high.... err... left hand jual right hand ... right hand jual right leg... right leg jual left leg... left leg jual right left hand... lol now if we look at the left side of the chart... ![]() or the zoom in are of the left side.... ![]() we can clearly see that VIS is a bloody TARAK laku stock.... then suddenly all the volume came in beautifully orchestrated.... now thanks to Monday's drama minggu ini plunge..... suddenly VIS became laku. from 20 sen to even 30 sen.... LOL! stock were sold at prices that weren't possible in 2013. what do they say about stock distribution again? are they distributed on the way up or down? Updated chart: ![]() Do you see what I see? LOL! Volume speaks a lot.... Ok, for every transaction there's a buyer and there's a seller. Sometimes... many likes to view things from the buyer perspective.... They only want to see the positive side of things.... Yes, being positive is very important in life but for stocks, with many sharks around, you better see things more openly..... What's important from that chart is the 2nd day. The first sell down or limit down, the volume traded was rather low. Yes, it did not take much effort to push the stock down. * Now if put that sentence into a bigger perspective, remember the point where VIS was trending much higher on CONSISTENTLY high volume. Now if all those volume equals to actual demand of the stock, ie if the demand of the stock was 'real', then once the stock gives way, you would expect all the previous demand for the stock would come alive and support the stock immediately. It did not happen!!! * The volume data in numbers is much easier to see. ![]() On 25 April, Vis closed at 77 sen. Volume done was 10,541,000 next day, Vis went limit down. Volume done was only 3,161,400. Volume done was only about 1/3 of its previous day volume. Why did the 'demand' of the stock suddenly disappear? Then the biggest tell tale sign of distribution came on the next day. Volume done was 107,877,200 million!!! Volume increased 34 times! 34 times!!! Would be buyers (or those with position) would use the buyer perspective to describe this 'unusual' event. They would argue that buyers came in to support the stock. Stock dropped from 77 sen wor... Now 22+ sen, surely buyers see value....... LOL! Now what about sellers perspective? No matter who was buying.... the other point is............................................... many shares were disposed!!!!! remember this chart? ![]() see 2012 and just before the orchestrated volume in 2013.... Vis WAS a coma stock. hardly any volume. Traded share price was around 14-15 sen only! think of this scenario.... coma stock, no volume..... Sharkie orchestrate it with artificial trading... push the stock to 77 sen..... and then suddenly pull the floor out..... stock crashes.... many come in think ... got value.... High 77 sen, now 25 sen... value.. value... value..... then sharkie dump like hell ......... what's the average price you dump? ( say 25 sen? )...... Possible? |

QUOTE(spring onion @ May 6 2014, 05:40 PM) Interesting..... http://www.theedgemalaysia.com/business-ne...c-takeover.html KUALA LUMPUR (May 6): Damansara Realty Bhd (DBHD) rose as much as 13% on speculation that the firm, which has close links with the Johor royalty, will take over KFC Holdings (Malaysia) Bhd from Johor Corporation (JCorp), dealers said today. DBHD officials could not be reached for comment. At 2.57 pm, DBHD jumped 14 sen or 10.6% to RM1.46. The fourth top gainer saw some 9.7 million shares changed hands. It had earlier hit a high of RM1.49. According to a dealer, DBHD might take over the ‘golden egg’ assets held by JCorp, such as KFC. Johor businessman Datuk Daing A Malek Daing A Rahaman, who is well connected to the state royalty, has assumed control of DBHD via Seaview Holdings Sdn Bhd. “We hear market talk that the Sultan of Johor views favourably on DBHD and is willing to inject KFC into the firm,” the dealer told theedgemalaysia.com. On April 30, DBHD announced to Bursa Malaysia that Seaview had completed its acquisition of 51% of equity in DBHD from JCorp via a share sales agreement. Daing A Malek is one the shareholders of Seaview. Meanwhile, another dealer told theedgemalaysia.com that DBHD’s rise among the top gainers today could be due to a technical rebound. “We think it is a technical rebound, although we have heard JCorp may inject assets into DBHD,” said the dealer over the telephone. From a technical perspective, Kenanga Research in a note today said DBHD’s immediate support and resistance levels hover at RM1.32 and RM1.58 respectively. ============= Wayang kulit time.... http://www.theedgemalaysia.com/business-ne...ara-realty.html KUALA LUMPUR (May 6): Johor Corporation Bhd (JCorp) has denied speculations that Damansara Realty Bhd (DBHD) will take over its subsidiary, KFC Holdings (Malaysia) Bhd. “JCorp is not aware of such proposal and has not solicited any proposal in relation to the mentioned companies,” said the state corporation in an email statement to theedgemalaysia.com. Earlier today, theedgemalaysia.com reported that DBHD, which has close links with the Johor royalty, rose 13% after the firm was rumoured to take over KFC. DBHD official could not be reached for comment. DBHD attracted market attention after Johor businessman Datuk Daing A Malek Daing A Rahaman, who is well connected to the state royalty, assumed control of DBHD via Seaview Holdings Sdn Bhd. |

QUOTE(hehe86 @ May 6 2014, 10:45 AM) current 'downtrend'..... ![]() sometimes they say patterns exist.... do they? this current downtrend happened AFTER Homeriz announced their profits results on 28/4/14 Previous profits was announced on 24/1/14 ![]() .... and yes, a similar downtrend was also noticeable. Only difference, I would say for the current downtrend, there was already a slight weakness of the stock before the profits were announced. But betting on patterns is not a sure win strategy. Sometimes patterns do happen, sometimes they don't. This is the much bigger picture. the previous profits were announced on end Oct 2013. Homeriz went gap up instead. ![]() So where's my tip? |

Not necessarily saying that one should buy or sell. It's just that market may be flat and unexciting because no one is paying much attention to it. cksoon could try to prove it by comparing market transaction volumes with past incidences of major sporting events.

Point is we ALWAYS hear so many super market advices/theories. SELL la in May and go holiday.... BUY for CNY rally.... SELL la before World Cup.... BUY la for Raya rally.... BUY la for Santa rally.... LOL! So many theories..... my point is? Has anyone conclusively prove that these theories even work? Sell in May theory? I think I posted the 2013 and 2012, KLCI chart. I even posted one random stock, PBBank. Did the theory even work? World Cup theory? I have posted not too long ago the CI charts for the last 3 World Cups. Did the theory even work? Yeah, I think it is better if market players do their own homework, check their own data, before simply listening to advices. |

I know that you always post lots of charts and data to accompany your statements. This is why the forum treats you like a god. Like everyone else, I am of course in awe as well of how much work you put into research and how well reasoned your arguments are.
But sometimes people just like to post to talk cock. Otherwise the thread is dull and quiet, like the market is right now. And anyway not all posts must necessarily be advice. It may just be random observations and anecdotes. |

QUOTE(cksoon @ May 7 2014, 11:41 AM) yup, it's just everyone seems to be candy crushing instead. well, I'm dreading as in the past, my business always suffer when it comes to this events and time... puasa... zzzz... business also puasa together. Thanks for sharing your business experiences.Yes, sometimes it can be a good indicator.... but .... remember there are always exceptions. How many people, you know, have complained that business in general has been poor for the Dec-Feb period recently? I heard many, from different businesses. But strangely, if you recall the good/lousy profits trend list I posted recently, most companies that reported for that period, actually performed much better than last year. Well..... how would you explain that? You know, sometimes, observations are just observations. Sometimes we can see a shop with booming business. We walk in and we usually see loads of people in the shop. But can we safely conclude 100% that this is a great profitable business? We cannot because we do not know the financial standing of the company. If the company is heavily leveraged, then whatever good business from appearance would be reduced greatly by financial costs. Or perhaps, the owners have other huge hidden costs from our eyes? For example, the owners could pay themselves with obscene salaries or the owners simply pass all sort of bills as company expenses. When that happens, all the profits would be diminished! |

QUOTE(wankongyew @ May 7 2014, 11:49 AM) But sometimes people just like to post to talk cock. Otherwise the thread is dull and quiet, like the market is right now. And anyway not all posts must necessarily be advice. It may just be random observations and anecdotes. |

Just to share once again the 2010 KLCI chart.
![]() Notes.... 1. The index dropped a lot in May itself. 2. The market however, rebounded strongly by end May itself. 3. 2010 World Cup started in June. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2010_FIFA_World_Cup Conclusion? |

Just out of curiosity, do you have to pay for a copy of the ChartNexus software to create those charts? Does it come with full historical data?

I am a cheapskate.I try to use everything the free way. My copy is from the trading software provided by my brokerage house, and in this instance, KenMoney. Jupiter charting is the same, and yes most stocks have full historical data, except for CI. Yeah... the CI .... I cannot go back to say 2002. |
