bcoz i cant find any 975 board. damn. yeah i'm quite dissappointed. i want all around pc fair, then ly to search for 975 board but no one has them. So i just gambe on this DQ6..

the heatpipe for this DQ6 is much hotter than DS4, maybe bcoz of its 12 phase power thingy..

and btw, anyone knows what is PEG in the bios? biggrin.gif

i wonder why 965chipset has oc limit when using 2x 1gb ram. i read at xs and most of them who r using 2x 1gb ram, either high performance or value got problem with oc.

i guess 965 chipset is the major problem now.. sad.gif

actually irenic ... setting RAM speed at DDR266 / DDR2533Mhz speed is preferable to overclock the CPU FSB past 400Mhz ...

AFAIK, the more phase the power is, the less heat it should be emited.

i guess the heat came from my intel stock hsf. i had difficulties installing it and my cpu was so hot. then with the help of austin, i managed to install it correctly. it nearly bend my mobo, and my fingers were in pain haha.. damn.. k8 socket is the best ever clip..

and rite now i'm using ninja (borrow from arj) and using coretemp my temp remain at 63c, and with speedfan, my temp remain at 52c during dual prime.

and i guess my e6600 ihs is not flat.. there was no any as5 mark on the center of my intel stockhsf, means that the center of the ihs is deeper than at the edge of the ihs..

RMA it, saying that the surface not flat enough for maximum heat transfers. lol... But I think better get it replace, seeing your temp is so high. sweat.gif

I am using Intel Stock HSF... 60C idle and 65C load 100% @ 2.88ghz.
So I guess your heat transfer is still better than mine.

It's normal for LGA boards to have the portion below the CPU buldge downwards due to the pressure of the clipping mechanism.

About AS5, I am not sure, since you would use it in very small amount; so it might be more susceptible to non-100% flat IHS.

i guess my temp is normal for e6600.. and for the concave IHS, it happens to almost all of the c2d processor..

thats why using mobo software the temp is quite cool, but when using software such as CoreTemp that read temp direct from the core, it's quite hot..

and when we touch the hsf it's not that hot, bcoz of the contact between base of hsf and the ihs is poor..

Just curious, has anyone here tried the simple pencil vdroop mod for the DS3? VR-Zone has the guide and it looks sooooooooo simple, even a n00b like me could do it. Just connect the resistors using pencil/conductive ink and voila. Is it that easy? What were your results like?

If it's a 3 pin thing, I think installing some jumper pins would be better since it could help you enable or disable the feature. I will capture some pix with the mod on the Bad Axe later... BTW, have you checked XS? Normally, I'd trust the posts there more than VR.

Put better active cooling on North Bridge and raise the NB Voltage.

The ppl on XS were referring to the guide posted by Shamino at VR. It's not a 3 pin thing, rather its just 2 solder points on the board that need to be shorted together using conductive solder/ink/pencil.
